Mojito Pointe Casino in Lake Charles, LA Set to Begin Construction Next Month
Next month, a Las Vegas-based casino developer may be starting construction on a $400 million casino located in Lake Charles, Louisiana.
Funding for the Mojito Pointe Casino Resort is expected to be completed this month, setting the property up to begin construction on the 242 acre plot in mid-February.
"All of the commitments are contingent on us having all of the money. Nobody wants to own part of an unfinished building," managing partner of Creative Casinos --the company developing the casino -- Dan Lee said.
Mojito Pointe will be located near the L'Auberge du Lac casino and will feature a 400-room hotel, a casino with 1,500 slot machines and 50 table games, as well as an entertainment and convention center and 18-hole golf course.
Last year, Creative Casinos announced it would be partnering with MGM Resorts International on the project, which will make the casino part of the MGM Resorts' customer loyalty program.
Construction is expected to be completed in 2013.
