Casino Miami Jai-Alai Opens to the Public
Miami Jai-Alai's $87 million expansion, Casino Miami Jai-Alai, had its grand opening last week. The casino features 1,050 slots, a poker room and dominoes as well as live shows.Casino Miami Jai-Alai, along with Calder Casino and Race Course and Magic City Casino which have been open for some time, was one of the casinos approved by Miami-Dade voters in a 2008 slot referendum. This passed shortly after Broward voted on a similar proposal which allowed The Isle Pompano Beach, Gulfstream Park, and Mardi Gras Casino to have slots.
As required by state law, the casino will be smoke-free.
Officials say the new casino will create 350 new jobs.
