MGM Resorts Announces Plans to Build 20,000-Seat Las Vegas Strip Arena

MGM Resorts International has announced plans to build a 20,000-seat indoor arena on the Las Vegas strip. The arena would be located on Strip land behind the Monte Carlo Resort & Casinoand the New York-New York Hotel & Casino.
“This new facility would be an extension of our entertainment legacy and continue our leadership position in the worlds of boxing, sports, concerts and other events that drive significant visitation and revenue to Las Vegas,” said MGM Resorts Chairman Jim Murren in a statement.
The cost of the project has not been disclosed, but according to MGM officials built with private funding and in partnership with arena developer AEG. The project would also include retail shops, dining and entertainment offerings.
MGM currently operates both The Grand Garden at the MGM Grand Hotel Casino and the Mandalay Events Center at Mandalay Bay.
