Everything I said before, the Hotel is amazing! I called room service with an issue, they were up to our room within 4 minutes. I would stay here every time my wife and I visit Black Hawk.

My wife and I stayed here a few times, the hotel is amazing and for the most part the employees are great! However it seems the table games staff aren't there to have fun, only to make money, and if you don't tip them every hand they are very snobby, and rude.

This casino/hotel is amazing!! The rooms are beautiful, if I could rate the suites I would give them a 6 Star, these rooms are every bit as nice as any luxury hotel in Vegas, there are 32 floors and the view of the mtn's is incredible! We have had great service and great food at the Timberline Restaurant, they serve a 1# lobster tail poached in butter that is worth the trip alone (45-60 min from Denver) but when it is comp'd, it is even better! Our host, Josh R. has always been fantastic, he continues to out due himself with helping us in anyway that he can, we feel lucky just to have him. The live bands that perform on the weekends are usually very good, our favorite thing to do on weekends is play video poker at the bar that surrounds the stage, you can dance if you want to, it is a very lively atmosphere and lots of fun, especially in combination with gambling! If you are visiting Denver it is well worth the short drive up the beautiful canyon to check out the area, but if you want the nicest rooms available, they are at the Ameristar!!

The description of the Black Hawk Ameristar casino and hotel is WAY out of date. They have built and completed a huge new hotel tower with many floors and first class rooms, probably making it the largest hotel in Black Hawk.

The buffet has always been first class, the finest in the area. In addition, the Ameristar has also opened a new restaurant on the upper level, plus remodeling the ones on the lower level. Gambling areas have been expanded to a newly opened floor on the second level, which goes around the entire perimeter of the casino, with slots filling about 3/4 of it. The downstairs now accommodates many gaming tables as well a large quantity of slots.

This is a pleasant hotel, but lacking in a good restaurant. Also, kind of hard to find your away around. A gift shop with basics like wine, beer, pop, chips, etc. would be nice, but there isn't one, just a small "cart" with a few gift items. It is understaffed. Rooms are comfortable and quiet. Bed is very nice. Valet parking required a wait, but easy enough. Plenty of slots but not enough of the really interesting ones like you find in Las Vegas. The steakhouse is medicore and service was slow. The Fireside Kitchen restaurant served inedible food, and a loooonnggg wait - they said they were overwhelmed by room service order and couldn't get to the restaurant orders.

This is as close as you can get to Vegas without leaving Colorado. Decent video poker around the center bar area and great live music on the weekends.

Food is good and reasonably priced. Tip - if you only drink soda or coffee, there are plenty of self serve stations around the place. Save those tips; they just might be the big winners.
