Nice renovations in the past few years
Gulfstream is a place I take people who come to to visit and aren't huge gamblers. They have a nice shopping and eating area outside the casino. And if anyone wants to try their luck, they have a pretty big gaming area on 2 floors. I personally don't care for the poker room, I am a limit player but the highest they play is 2-4. As far as the slots, I've gone there with many people and NOBODY has walked away a winner. Nice place to go, but not a good place to play
Pick 4
Was very exited as I some how hit the Pick 4 recently just playing numbers here. My wife and I were treated to a comp dinner after I cashed the ticket, and would definitely go back for some live horse racing. Had a great time!
I don't like the place
I went back one year after my last visit and it's worse than ever. The player's club benefits are pathetic. The place was not very busy because people like the dog track casino (Mardi Gras) much better. It's only a five minute drive further north and it's a much better place to play.
Slots don't pay out
Please, if you have experience in slot machines pay-out come here and you will see that the pay out percent is less than 10%.
It's incredible, the slots machines NEVER pay back, the bonuses almost don't exist, you may put one thousand dollars in a machine and it will not pay you anything, very tired machines, manipulated. I have played here many, many times, I have lost more than ten thousand dollars in some months and I don't remember to win a day (at any bet, at any machine, at any time). Everybody gets out with their wallet empty, there is not an exception to this rule. Try it and you will see...
slots
the slots needs improving no more suck ins please
Video Poker got a little better
After this place intially opened it wasn't doing well and one of the managers was quoted in the newspaper saying that they were going to make some changes.
Primarily, they were going to? emphasize the facility's video poker games and bring in the best pay tables. Unfortunately, that didn't happen.
The $1 Jacks or Better games which all started out as 7/5 went up to 8/5 and 9/5. The best game in the place is $1 8/5 Bonus which is offered in three-play, five-play and 10-play.
The Player's Club is also very bad. The only cashback you can get is $10 after you put $20,000 in play through the machines. There are no comps, except you can redeem your points for a few souvenir items such as a hat, t-shirt, or coffee mug.
The people at the Player's Club desk are nice, but the lines can be very long and they move very slowly.

Video poker is not too bad. No full pay but most royals pay 800 per coin not the usual 250 so you can short play without losing the royal. All video poker is in new downstairs casino.
Fun When The Horses Run
Live in the area, so have been to Gulfstream Casino/Racino quite a bit. The major problem with this casino, as well as the other pari-mutuel based casinos in the area is simply that the take-out is way too high.
The tax rate to the State is 50%, so you're really giving up a big chunk right from the beginning. Love the non-smoking atmosphere here, and when the horses are running live, (January to April), it's fun to be able to bet the horses and take some breaks to play the slots.
Of course, there's only slots here (but might see some table games eventually if the Seminole Indians get them). For now, until the tax rate is lowered substantially, I'll play here only occasionally until the horses are running again.
Nice Facility - Poor VP
The casino is all new and it opened in mid-November 2006. It's a very nice, modern, clean, non-smoking facility.
It opened with just over 500 machines, but it is expected that they will eventually have the full 1,500 machines allowed by Florida law.
I'm not much of a slot player and just play video poker. Unfortunately, the VP paytables are rather poor, with 7/5 Jacks or Better in both quarter and dollar denominations.
Therfore, I will just visit and look, rather than play.
