"Hollywood" is the new Argosy name. It is extremely crowded, 75% of the crowd is Cincinnati area residents, that will change now that Ohio has passed gambling laws and a casino in Cincinnati is "Coming Soon"
The new Hollywood is a very nice place, slots are very tight, I used to go a lot, but find myself splitting time, traveling on down the river to the Grand Victoria, and Belterra also. All slots seem tight in that area. I know the slots are stated to be about 91% payout. but for me over five years frequenting the Argosy it is about 20% personally.
WOW. THAT FIRST REVIEW SOUNDS A LOT LIKE AN ADVERTISEMENT? I am almost 72 years old and this old geezer's not falling for THAT mumbo.
If you ask me, I tell you the CASINO IS TOO BIG. I got lost in there and couldn't find my son for NEARLY 3 HOURS. I walked and walked and everything is too far. Maybe for them young kids that run around there it's not so bad, but for me I nearly had a breakdown trying to find the players club.
The Argosey used to comp when I would go down and spend all of my money, but this new Hollywood isn't comping hardly at all. The employes seemed nice enough but very false like in a disco trance or something. I guess I'd be that nice too if I was taking everybody's money.
They get almost $4 for a pastry. I know the country is in a bad time, but I read in a paper somewhere that these folks were making roundabout forty million in one month after they opened their new boat. The old boat was losing its humility in the last few years, and now with the new one it just doesn't feel good at all.
They wanted to charge me a holding fee of $25 for a wheelchair. To me that don't seem like no way to treat a senior citizen or a veteran. If you ask me they kinda seem like they don't know what they're doing. I will keep my money in my pocket for now until I find something better.
It's been awhile since I have been there, but when I did go, a few times, I always enjoyed it.
The first time I went I did really good on the 25c slots. I never played any tables, actually never played any poker then, lol.
We ate there at one of the restaurants which I cannot remember the name, but a buffet, and it was very good, no complaints about it.
I hear they are upgrading the casino and its going to be very nice. I might try to get back there sometime soon!
Parking for the Argosy was probably the only bad thing about this casino. You had to park away from the Casino and take a shuttle to it.
?
I like the big city feel of Argosy, but it is always very crowded and sometimes it is difficult to get a decent video poker machine. They are building a new much larger casino, but it will not be done this year.
I've traveled 150 miles one way to visit the casino twice in 2008 and the only thing they have offered me as rewards is a couple of $2.00 off coupons for their restaurants.
I'm a VIP at the other area riverboat casinos, but this one? does not offer the perks that all the others do and both times I visited, I came home a loser. So, with the high cost of gas, I haven't been back.
The argosy is just ok, they need more table games and better ventalation
Been here several times. Mostly have winning trips. Better than most casinos outside of the big places, like Las Vegas and Biloxi.
Hit the casino when I was in the area for some schooling. Had some wonderfull meals in the resturant. Dealers on the boat were friendly and talkative. Winning wasn't bad either.
Argosy Casino was our Vegas" fix". Your best bet is to play tables here as the slots are extremely tight.
They do have a wide variety of slots from pennies up. The problem is the play time on these are minimal. I see almost no one getting a lot of play time or winning. The machines take your money fast.
VP selections are limited and no VP at the bars anymore. VP seems to take the money too. We are going to save our money for Vegas.
We had to go to a funeral in Hugo,OK. There was VERY limited choice of where to stay so we picked Choctaw Casino & Resort. Our stay was for one...
So after my first visit to the Horseshoe, my impression is beautiful, but maybe not for me. At least not right now. If you are a serious Blackjack...
