tight slots
We were there today with family members. Out of the four of us, no one could win anything. If we got any payout, we would lose it almost immediately. The slots were terrible. We did eat at the lunch buffet and it was quite good, especially the desserts. We may go again for the buffet, but will definitely stick to our bankrolls. We lost entirely too much today.
POOR PAYOUTS
I have been a customer since it opened 3 years ago. It was fair at first, now they are downright greedy! I know that they are in the business to make money, but the patron that is taking a chance with their money should also have a minimally fair chance at winning every once in a while.
FOUR WINDS
After reading the other reviews I see that although I am not a BIG spender I see people who spend far more than I are having the same questions. Absolutely NO ONE at Four Winds is willing or able to explain their points system. My husband, who goes with me every time, rarely gets any of the promotions cause they keep telling him that his "average play" isn't high enough. We spend the same amount of money and actually I win more than he does, on average. Their return on my dollar is poor and it is ridiculous that when playing slots and you get into a BONUS - you can get absolutely -0- at the end of the BONUS.
I have been attending since the first day they opened and one of the first things I said was that I hoped they did not start all of those "free giveaways". When they have the huge giveaways there are people who show up, sit on a machine and play 1 and 1 or worse yet, take up two machines, next to each other, and still play 1 and 1. My husband and I will not go on the huge giveaway days. Can't find any machines, that we like to play, available.
We will continue to visit Four Winds but our visits have reduced in number per month and our per visit spending has also been cut down. Neither of us expect to get rich at a casino but we would like to have our money give us time to play and not just donate!
Visit ruined by unfriendly pit boss. Poor comp sy
I have gone to Four Winds numerous times and play primarily blackjack. As a whole, I find the dealers there to be, on average, the friendliest in the area and it makes the experience more fun than when they are stiff and robotic like at other casinos. However, I have asked on numerous occasions for them to explain their comp system for blackjack to me and nobody has ever been willing to do so. They simply ask you what you want and then will take your card and come back with a yes or no to your request with no explanation of why you did or didn't get what you asked for. On my most recent visit, I played at the same blackjack table for 9 straight hours and when I asked at the end if they could give me a free meal or anything (I've received meals before while playing far fewer hours), the pit boss seemed annoyed by the question. After first avoiding me as I was trying to ask, she then took my card to someone for them to check it and I heard her make an insulting remark about me as she asked him to check the card. When they returned and told me I hadn't earned a meal, I was a disappointed but I was far more upset that I heard her make the remark about me. I was in no way rude or demanding when I asked that she check. They are never willing to explain how they determine it and I have received meals for less play there. I certainly didn't think my question was unreasonable and her reaction to my question really upset me and sent me home a little angry. A friendly, "Sorry, we can't do anything right now" would've been a far better way to go.
Four Winds Casino
I have very mixed feelings about the Four Winds. Only went there twice. The first time we were staying at Blue Chip and stopped in to take advantage of their $400 promotion, where they would cover losses up to $400. We lost $400 in a very short time. We then received the rebate offer along with an offer for a free hotel night and on a specific date, a $200 bonus. We took advantage of that and booked the hotel for the night prior to the bonus offer. We babysit a grandchild during the day so couldn't leave the northwest suburbs of Chicago until 6p.m. Once on the road, we encountered a problem on the road where all lanes were blocked due to a truck being overturned and grease on the road. I called to advise the hotel we were still on the way but that we would be late. They stated they could only hold the room until 9 p.m. I told them we had a reservation and were still coming and that is why I called. They said they were overbooked and if they couldn't put us up there they would find accommodations. This ticked us off plenty. We arrived at what we thought was 9:05 p.m., but in Michigan it was 10:05 p.m. We got the last room available. Bad news was it was a smoking room and we had reserved non-smoking. Good news was - it was a suite. Loved the room and view and had a good night's rest before heading to the casino in the morning.
We went directly to the player's club to get our rebate credits and bonus credits posted to our players cards. It was around 8:30 am. The system was down for updating for about an hour. Couldn't they have done this during the night? Here we are ready to play but not on our dime again. We need to wait for the credits to be put on our cards. So we decide to have breakfast. The buffet is not open until lunch time. No coffee shop. There is a fast-food type area that serves breakfast. Fairly expensive I thought, and not very good, but it killed time. Around 9:15 the players club was operating again. We got the credits and played for a couple of hours. This time the machines were a little more generous to us and we took back our $400 plus the $200 bonus and left.
Bottom line. Loved the hotel. Had one experience were the slots were cold as ice, but the next time they hit fairly well. Video poker sucked. Did not try the tables. We now get offers almost daily but it is 2-1/2 hr. drive and generally not worth the offer so it is unlikely we will return unless going up with friends. If you get a hotel offer, I'd say go for it. The hotel being surrounded by forest makes for a lovely retreat. The casino, like most, is hit or miss.
Four Winds Casino New Buffalo Michigan
Worst casino I have ever been to. Smoky and rude employees. The place is run by the Indian Mafia. Don't bother complaining about anything. If you win they will have you thrown out. I would never go back here after seeing people haning out at the table games smoking and not even playing while annoying paying patrons. The pit bosses and dealers are jerks. The slots don't pay off. They hotel is really pretty but they employees are not friendly.
Winning Wednesday
Stormy day and a day off of work for the both of us so we visited FWC. Not many people so it was easy to find the slot we wanted. Except the 5 coin I play was out of order. The wife seems to pick the losing slots and that's what happen. Played the 25 cent blazing 7's won $60 from a 20. At 5pm more people arrived. Losses after that, down 200. Played a penny slot with max bet and won $326.00. Went to the buffet on them. Was good but Little River in Manistee is the best and you pay for it. However, it takes a lot of losing to get comps here. Play time is short. Servers were few, wasn't waited on for some time. Power went out for 3 or 4 seconds from the storm. No problems, their slots were still working. Wednesdays are bad days to play here.
It's alright.
This place is by far the biggest casino I have been to in Michigan so far. It's a nice casino that feels very open and pretty easy to move around in even when it's busy. They have a ton of slots, but have seemed very tight every time I have played there. Employees all seemed pretty nice and friendly. Players card system is good with some nice comps. You can get your loses back on our first day of play via free play. I usually get free play offers in the mail pretty often. The line at the players card area is usually long and moves very slow. There is not much around the casino in terms of food or hotels either.
First visit there was " A-W-E-S-O-M-E " . . .
my wife and I were very pleased with our first visit to the Four Winds Casino in New Bufflo , MI , . . . the staff was more then friendly . . . willing to help out whenever possible . . . and the gaming was out of this world . . . although we did not eat in the casino . . . or stay at the hotel . . . from the aroma of the food being served . . . and the mere beauty of the hotel . . . were very inspiring . . . and everything combined will definitely be a motivating factor that will draw us back to this spectacular destination . . . this place is " A-W-E-S-O-M-E " . . .
many " Thanks " go out to the staff and owners of this casino . . . and although we live in Terre Haute , IN . . . we will be making several trips back to this casino for many more visits yet to come . . .
Terrible comps for BJ
They discriminate against Blackjack players here with the comps. Points don't carry over from one visit to the next. Table minimums are too high. Rules not good. The buffet is terrible. Attitudes of pit bosses are even worse.
EATS MONEY
NO WINS JUST EATS MONEY PUT 20 DOLL IN A 25 CENT SLOT AND GOT NO PAYBACK NOT ONE CENT
old timer review
my wife and i have been there many times and my wife is a member of the copper club. The comps are the best in michigan with very good free slot play. We win at the slots almost every visit.
NICE
STAFF IS AWESOME, THE BUFFET IS ONE OF THE BEST. BETTER THAN MOST IN VEGAS.
great time
second trip, great slots, the buffet is the best around, prime rib & smoked salmon is the the best.
Liteman
A nice new casino. Large, but not confusing. Good selection of Video Poker. Free self serve soda stations. Reasonable beer prices.

We have played here 4 times and stayed overnight once. The room was fantastic, a junior suite. Can't wait to stay there again. The casino is really nice.
The food and atmosphere are very similiar to the nice casinos on the Vegas strip. Best casino outside of Las Vegas.
