Machines Seem Tight to Me
This casino is designed to suck your bank account dry. Stay away. Talked to lots of local players who have never had a win on their slots. The slots I played have a payout rate of 0. I played 10 different two credit quarter machines, 10 bucks each and did not get one single credit. That's right, not one single cherry on a Friday night. I saw lots of angry people leaving this place.
Reviews below mine are old
Ameristar has added all the newest slots with signs on them designating if they are new. They have changed their players club so that comps are now maintained. The hotel is beautiful but it doesn't have a fitness center, pool or anything like that. There is a gift shop, but comps cannot be used there. There is a movie theater and arcade on the property and several restaurants.
It's a nice casino.
Didn't like it
Food OK, but definitely over priced, $3.50 for a beer at table game after a 25-minute wait. Dealers attitude less than friendly, matter of fact it sucked.
Slots very tight, being from Mo. I have learned that the Missouri gaming tax is highest in country, 41% while Nevada's is 7% and Tunica, Ms is 11% or so. Guess this explains tight slots & pricey drinks.
Save your money and take a couple days off and go to Tunica. All 9 casinos are good (horseshoe & gold strike) are my favorites. Good comps, rooms & food - just like vegas 40 yrs ago. They appreciate your business and show it.
Above SO-SO !
I like Ameristar....that being said, I will deal with the negatives only.
Poor comps and point system. Many very old slots. Faded wheels.
No free drinks while you wager - not their fault, but a reason to save your money and go to Vegas.
Isolated location. No other place to walk to or go to. You are stuck right there. This is the same with all KC casinos - another reason to save and go to Vegas.
My favorite KC casino
GREAT atmosphere! Live bands playing, great happy hour at the bars. I won $1800 in 2 days at this casino.
Great variety of slots, lots of video poker. Didn't realize until my second visit that there was a second floor! Can play here for hours. I liked that you could cash out your winnings at the end of the night.
Good atmosphere, bad comps
As far as comps go, Ameristar KC is not very good at all. Like someone else posted, the food comps earned that day have to be redeemed that day and it takes a lot of points to earn food comps.
The atmosphere is the best of all the KC casinos. There is a great selection of slot machines and more elbow room even when it is crowded.
Watch Your Comps
They no longer carry your comps forward, you must get them the day you earn them or lose them.
Cash comps continue, but not food comps. Once received, they last for 7 days.
Mailings have dropped off, gifts are have to be earned now, instead of just given away. Many regular members are complaining to each other about the changes.
