Old, Rugged, and Dirty
Avoid this little casino/hotel at all cost. They are still using coin buckets and the machines are always breaking down. Jean used to have 2 casinos, now they just have this one, and if things keep up, soon they will have 0.
The buffet is garbage as well.
If you're stopping en route to Vegas, use the restroom and get out of there. Save your money for the real games and buffets in Sin City. I will never stop here again...yuck!

Gold Strike Hotel Casino
Earlier this year we stopped at the Gold Strike Casino on the way to Las Vegas to use the ACG 2 for 1 buffet coupon. We had been doing this on every trip to Las Vegas since we started getting the ACG book. This time they said we could only use the coupon once ever. I guess we are not stopping here to eat anymore.
Gold Strike Hotel
We have stopped at the Gold Strike Hotel to use 2 for 1 buffet coupons coming into Nevada or leaving Nevada. The food was at least OK.
The slot machines still used real coins so we tried to use up our loose coins and ended up winning more coins!

Never going back
I travel a lot and stop at casinos all over. Had been by Gold Strike and thought I'd check it out as it was not a border tourist-trap nor a LV-strip casino and though it might be a good place to stop. Was I wrong!
I've had better luck and more fun at little Indian casinos across the nation. This place has none of the new slots available across the country, and few of the video slots that have been out for several years. Worse, they still pay out (if you are lucky enough to even get your money back to pay out) by hand or coins, so you are stuck with a cup of coins to carry or waiting for a floor worker to come pay you.
The machines are ticket in-ticket out capable but not hooked up. The machines are also so tight that you get very little playback and consider yourself lucky if you ever get a bonus feature. I don't know about the hotel or food, didn't want to stay.
The information above on this site is a dated as well.... there is no Nevada Landing (except the big sign for the former place) so there isn't a shuttle to it. My recommendation to I-15 travellers? Keep travelling by this one!

Have Won There & A Good Place To Eat
The Gold Strike strikes out
This used to be a clean cheap place, but it has gone at least a year beyond needing to be renovated.
Threadbare carpets in the rooms, stained sofas, cigarette burns on the furniture in non-smoking rooms.
THis place needs HELP!
