I happen to be paralyzed and in a wheelchair, but fly out several times a year I fly out to Vegas and always enjoy checking out the various resorts.

There are two primary reasons why I give The Orleans a high rating: 1). The annual "Viva Las Vegas" extravaganza over Easter Weekend. Without a doubt the the finest combination of classic cars, rockabilly music and burlesque babes in the world. Extremely entertaining and incredible people watching. 2). The complimentary shuttle bus (with wheelchair lift) to and from the Strip (Bill's Gambling Saloon). My shuttle driver (Gene) epitomized what Vegas hospitality should aspire to. Great music, conversation and loves his job/people.

I also enjoy many offers from Boyd Gaming for room discounts and other seasonal promotions from the Orleans.

The property is to spread out/expansive for me to stay there on a regular basis, but it has a lot going for it -- especially for folks who want something more than gambling.

I haven't stayed here, but have spent some time in the casino, and at the buffet, which are both still good. The buffet is always busy,great price with a 2 for 1 coupon. I have done well at the table games there, played slots a little, did ok. Take the free shuttle from the strip, near the parking garage on the side of Bills Hotel, on Flamingo Road.

My wife and I have regularly visited the Orleans since it opened, but will not go back any more. Just spent 4 days there and the slot payback was non-existent. They have continually tightened the machines the last 5-6 years so that now, nothing is won on video poker or the slots. Also, the place is starting to show it's age and they have not kept the property up to date. The faucet leaked in our room and and bedding was old and worn. The only thing they have going now is that the buffet is still pretty good. They have other restaurants in the casino but I wouldn't waste my time eating in any one of them. In addition to the above, the drinks are so watered down, that one cannot tell if they have any booze in it or not. There are better places to stay in Vegas than the Orleans.

Have stayed at The Orleans often. Rooms are spacious and nicely furnished; customer service is great. Their slots are pretty tight, but they sometimes have promotions going on where you can slide your players card in a kiosk and earn rewards; i.e. put $5 in the slots and get $5 free play. Really enjoy their buffets and their environment off the strip.

The Orleans has been in business now for many years. It seems to cater a lot to locals and they are a full service and very large casino. It's a bit too big for me but I did enjoy the time I spent there this last trip last week. They are huge...they have bars all over the place, lots of restaurants including chains in a food court. They also happen to have a HUGE poker room with about 50 tables. I am a poker player so that's big to me. I like an enclosed poker room to keep the smoke out. This room is not enclosed but it's so large the smoke wasn't much of a problem. They had just about every kind of poker game available and a lot of action so one can get on a table just about any time. I might add that if you're a poker player you can park in the back and walk right into the poker room area...very convenient.

We watched some football there in a lounge that had been converted with a big movie type screen with very nice cushy chairs. It was very nice. We also had a problem there and when I complained to management, a young lady at the front desk named Stephanie couldn't do enough to solve the problem.

This was the first trip to Las Vegas when I have spent a great deal at Orleans and I don't regret it. We didn't get a chance to try their restaurants but I understand their Mexican joint is real good. NEXT TIME!

Top notch casino/hotel, just a ways off the strip, with decent hotel prices and solid dining options.

Really good buffet here, and we also dined at TGI Fridays when we were here for a night a few trips back. This place is one of those hidden gems in Vegas, much like South Point and Siverton.

This place is worth a visit and even a stay.

The Orleans is exactly one mile from the strip. If you have a car this place is a great find. Rooms are good sized, same for bathrooms. The property is huge and has spa, pool, gym, bowling, and restaurants. The only down side us the location. If you needed to take a cab to the strip every day, the cost would probably exceed the typically great room rates the Orleans offers.

I've stayed at the Orleans two nights each of my last three visits to Las Vegas. I enjoy the casino and the room. The staff are always helpful and friendly. I like the fact that the casino is off the strip and you can avoid traffic coming and going. The only downside was when we tried to eat at the buffet, it was seniors day and every Sexagenarian, Septuagenarian & Octogenarian in Las Vegas was there. It was 2 for one day. But, the wait was worth it. The food was excellent as was the service. And the slots pay good and there's a great selection.

The Orleans is a nice place if you have a car and can get off of the strip. The buffet is outstanding and the casino is large, spacious, clean, and quiet. The service in the buffet was my only complaint. We were there during champagne brunch and only saw our server once for a refill. Their rooms are clean and they bring in some good entertainment.

The Orleans is one of our favorite places to stay and gamble in Las Vegas. They send us 2 night stay offers which we gladly use. The casino is large and the buffet is great. We make sure to come on senior day to get our points multiplied and to get a 2 for 1 buffet coupon.

I was annoyed when the Orleans downgraded its signature 10/7 Double Bonus VP right while I was staying there in December 2006, and I stopped playing there for a few years. Then they dug me up and sent me two free nights a couple years back, and I returned.
Their rooms are some of the best of the inexpensive rooms in all of Vegas and kept well. There is plenty of room, and it is very convenient. The bathroom sink area is conveniently outside and separate from the toilet and shower, a small glass etched window off the shower to release excess steam. The beds are comfortable. All standard rooms are basically the same, but some report that the king bed rooms on the floors just below the suites are a bit better. The elevators are in two banks, one for lower floors and one for upper floors. This makes for efficient elevator travel. It is fine to have a view, but if you don’t care about view, take the rooms on floors 1-9 and have a very quick ride down each time. A guard looks at keys on the way in.
The pool is large and if the water has warmed, very comfortable. In April or November it takes some courage to swim there. The Jacuzzi is also large and decorated with rocks. It is always hot and one of my favorite Jacuzzis, as there is generally plenty of room and the center rocks make each section a bit more private. The gift store often has things for $10 that are fine to take home as souvenirs. Used decks of cards once were some of the best used casino cards in Vegas and only one dollar. They had red or blue backs. On my last trip the cards had white backs and while still inexpensive, are not of the same quality. Inexpensive used dice are also sold there.

The food is good. I have heard few complaints. Some say the buffet is not what it once was. I like the buffet, and I like Al’s Oyster House, where I can buy a very good oyster chowder (not on the menu, just ask).
For a little under $25 we can get an all day buffet price and go as many times as we like from the time it opens until 9PM (sorry, it is not 24 hours, just one day). If I am buying breakfast, especially on days when breakfast is a bit pricey, I like that. I can play poker and take a break to pop into the buffet for just a bit of fruit or perhaps some iced cream. The wrist band that marks us as an all-day buffet person is also a line pass, so that is very helpful when wanting to go in and out quickly. No lines.
Brendan’s Irish Pub will have music and drinks. However, I better like McClellan’s Irish Pub across Tropicana from the Orleans. It serves great food, including some fine homemade potato chips with interesting dips, has some good specials, and is a place to go to find a quiet little wooden nook for a more private meal. Sometimes they have music or contests as well. Keep an eye out for restaurant.com coupons for this place.

The Orleans live poker room is very good, but so many good playing locals like it, that the competition is rather tough. Still, for a 2-4 game you can often find enough locals to make it soft. It is large and you rarely wait for a seat. It really spreads a variety of games. Many places advertise that they do, but there may just be two tables when you arrive. This place will have the games or have only a short wait before they start.

VP is second rate at Orleans. They never had 9/6 JOB, so when the signature 10/7 double bonus was downgraded, it was downgraded to 9/6. It must draw some players, but no one who knows anything about pay tables. It is a game to avoid because 9/6 DDB is nearby and a much better bet. Scattered around the casino are some 9/7 DB progressives in 3 play. I like the nickle ones when the progressive royals are up high. There are also some decent Deuces to play, although no full pay.
For 9/6 DB you need to take the shuttle to the Gold Coast.

Check to see the Young at Hearts (over 50 years of age) promotion. Currently it is on Tuesdays from 7am to 7pm. 7X points for slots (probably a bit less for VP) a wheel to spin after 50 points, deals on the buffets (usually 2 for 1 breakfast and lunch) and cheap movies. On Monday the Young at Heart promos are at the Gold Coast, just a shuttle ride away. Currently at the Gold Coast includes Free poker tournament. 100 points for the card of the day. 10X points for slots. A free VP tournament. These promos change, but usually within a framework of setting aside one day for senior deals.

TheOrleans does have 3:2 blackjack and the last I knew there was a double deck game.
The ambiance of the gambling is very nice. It does not feel crowded.

I like the theme of the Orleans. Often there are free beads at the cashiers, the kind you have to beg or flash for at Rio or in actual New Orleans. I like the alligators. I started my buddy Lucky Pete on his Silver Strike collection there at the Orleans, and he has about every one made now. The Orleans strikes are not worth a great deal as collectibles, but that Alligator makes a great design and as a card protector, they work fine. However, they took out those machines.

The free shuttle to Bill’s on the strip or the Gold Coast means that you are less isolated than at first you might think. Also the Tropicana bus 201 takes you quickly to the strip at the NYNY corner. I find this helpful for taking in shows in that area. However, coming home in the early morning hour, this bus runs just every hour, so having a printed schedule is helpful. Cab rides are pretty cheap if you catch the cab in the NYNY circle on Tropicana because it is just a straight shot. Make certain the cabby uses a meter.

There is a bowling alley and sometimes late night bowling specials.
Free wifi is offered in the coffee area near the check in. Plugs are available. Come early as the plug opportunities fill up quickly.

I would not walk between the strip and the Orleans unless it is in the morning. In evening hours there are often prostitutes walking in that area. Avoid the Wild Wild West as well. However, if you are an Inn and Out burger fan there is one along this stretch. Just be sure you are driving or eating during safe hours and then grabbing a nearby bus.

However, I would and do walk Arville from the Orleans to the Gold Coast rolling my large suitcase behind me, again at midday. I just skip the treadmill and as long as the bag has good balance, it is an easy walk and very safe. There are plenty of people around working in various places along the way and no street folks whatsoever. Last trip I over packed, so my bag was just too heavy. I caught the Arville bus 104 and rode up to Flamingo and from there caught a bus to Eastside Cannery. Again, this Arville bus 104 runs about every 45 minutes, so you want to time your check out; then you won’t have to wait as long at the bus stop.

By the way, seniors get a huge discount on buses if they get a picture ID downtown at the new bus station (BTC). That trip on the bus cost me just $2 with the senior ID. These residential routes are a good bargain now and after September 2011 they will be much cheaper for seniors than the strip buses because the discount is supposed to go away. Finally, there is no hassle about luggage on a residential bus. I pull the largest suitcase allowed on an airline and have no trouble with the buses. Of course, I do have to lift it myself and sometimes with all my airplane carry on stuff packed inside it weighs 85 pounds, but most buses are just one step up and one down.

The new MAX has a bus stop at NYNY before heading on the highway for a quick trip downtown. So you can combine the 201 with the MAX and get luggage downtown or to the airport, or even stay a few days at the Orleans and then take the 201 to catch the MAX all the way out to Suncoast and stay there for a while. They are a B-connected casino as well. I like buses better than the paid shuttles that always have The Orleans as their last stop and so bang luggage at each stop before. When riding the MAX also pay close attention to printed schedules. It runs on average only about once an hour.

If you are driving, a favorite parking area is just to the right of the circle and beyond the cement area that juts out. From here is is an easy walk to check in.

With so many casinos in the Las Vegas area, it can be hard to pick and choose where to stay & play. To help you sift through the options and find the right one for the right occasion, I will review a different casino every week or so. The two previous casinos that I have reviewed are Encore and the Wynn. The atmosphere and clientele found there are vastly different than the Orleans. As far as casinos go, the Orleans is a hole in the wall. That can be either a good or bad thing, but for Orleans it's neither.



A festive french quarter facade rises above the spacious parking lot. Like most Vegas architecture, this is a flimsy illusion because once inside you will find the environment rather tame. Granted, there is a semi-vibrant atmosphere and cheap drinks ($1.50 Buds at every casino bar), but the Mardi Gras debauchery is noticeably absent. Not even a hint. Single men who are not big drinkers or hardy gamblers will be better served heading to the Palms. On a positive note, there is a TGIF inside the casino and it has happy hour all day/every day, so you can nibble an appetizer and get your buzz on relatively cheap. And the Orleans is close to the strip, so it can be the spot you go to before the spot before the spot before the spot. (Fans of the movie Swingers will understand)



On a positive note, the Orleans is a working class blue-collar casino where one can gamble and get plastered without breaking the bank. Rooms are cheap, and there is an arena for sporting events. Most of the people there are friendly, and if you don't mind the occasional Michigan hick, then the Orleans might be the place for you. Though I would recommend the Silverton casino, where you get more bang for your buck.

Have stayed all over Las Vegas including the strip and downtown, but keep coming back to the Orleans! Being a low-limit gambler, I haven't found anywhere else that treats you as good as the Orleans does for my play.

I usually play two hands of $5, 2 deck blackjack. Of course finding $5 limit on the strip is out of the question, but the Orleans lets you play two hands and you don't have to bet double.

Also they deal a two deck game without those lousy 6-5 payouts for blackjacks. The game proceeds at a nice pace and I have never been turned down for a buffet comp. Usually with 4 hours of play I can get a comp for two to any restuarant in the place except for the gourment restuarant.

However, when you can go to the Prime Rib loft, I don't feel I'm missing out too much! Of course that brings up the subject of food and if you saw me, you would know that I like to eat. I haven't found a buffet I like more for everyday eating. As Dave M. mentions you can't beat the gumbo and crawfish on the buffet. Even if you don't like cajun food the rest is really good and the variety is large.

This hotel and casino is the best by far. They offer something for everyone and they treat their guest very well. They have the best sports book , buffet and pool I have enjoyed in the Las Vegas area.

Off strip and still very close to the action. We stay there every chance we get. If you get a chance to try this place, you will be sure to stay there again.

After staying at properties all over Las Vegas from the strip to downtown to off-strip, we always come back to the Orleans. Why? Because the rooms are big, clean and inexpensive and because you get a lot for your gaming dollar, especially at the low limit table games and the huge selection of video poker.

The dealers, servers and bartenders are generally fun and friendly. The sports book is more than adequate and the place has ten or eleven very good dining options, from chains like TGI Friday's to cajun food, a very nice steakhouse, a Mexican restaurant, a GREAT, inexpensive buffet (great gumbo and crawfish).

We also like not having to deal with the huge crowds on the strip, but if we get in the mood to go to the strip, the Orleans' free shuttle gets you to mid strip in ten minutes.

The pool area is very nice and if you run low on gaming cash, you can go bowling, go to the movies or catch a band in the lounge, all right on property. Boyd Gaming has a real winner in the Orleans in our book. We will return many times I am sure.

Love the Orleans, they have very clean rooms at discount prices. The food restaurants hit the spot at very reasonable prices with good service. They offer a free shuttle to the strip if you want. It makes my gambling money go a little further and every little bit helps..

Got the inexpensive room rate in conjunction with a slot tournament. The rooms were as good as the strip hotel casinos. The slots were good and hit regularily.

The people were very nice and having many different eateries was nice. Very comparable to the Southpoint as an off main strip place to stay and play.

It is off the beaten path, but that isn't always a bad thing. It's nice to get away from the Strip's hussle and bussle.



The rooms are very roomy and nice decore. The casino is a nice size, not too big, but big enough.



The food choices are good from grabbing a hotdog on the go by the sports lounge to nice sitdown dinners.

The Orleans is a great hotel - the rooms are large, nicely decorated, and very clean, there's a nice selection of restaurants, the breakfast buffet is a bargain, there's a great pool area, and the spa is very nice AND reasonably priced.



I often travel to Las Vegas alone and feel very safe staying there.



Video poker paytables could be better, but there's a HUGE selection to choose from.

I'm 55. It's got everything I need. Nice clean large rooms . Reasonably priced gambling. Nice pool. Nice restaurants and even a liquor store.



Best of all, the price is right. I've stayed there about 7 times.

One of the best bargains in rooms in LV, although off-strip. Rooms are a good size, large bathroom.



The best buffet for the price is here plus 4 or more dining venues. The casino has a great selection of games even if the VP is not full pay.



I'd recommend this casino/hotel !!!

I visit Las Vegas each year and have stayed at the Orleans for the past 2 and plan on staying there this year.



The hotel rooms are roomy and clean, the staff is friendly, casino is clean and, most of all, it is off the Strip and I feel safe staying there. There are Security Guards posted at the elevators and you must present your room key prior to getting by the elevators.



I am a woman and travel with my sister-in-law and we both feel very secure.

This is the best casino in Vegas with the nicest standard rooms, good service, fine food.



Unfortunately the new owers have decided to kill the good gambling. Video poker is being decimated. The future is uncertain, but a great place to stay for little dollars.

This place has the best mid-range priced buffet in Vegas. The rooms are just fine, not extravagant as the Biggies on the strip, but fine nonetheless.



Decent priced entertainers, plenty of drink venues. Employees seem friendly & my husband says the BEST LOOKING CW in all of LV works here.



The VP may not be FP, but still decent. If you don't want to fight the CROWDS on the strip--stay here.



The Orleans has a "GREAT FUNBOOK" for hotel guests and THE ACG COUPONS MAKE THE ORLEANS AN EXCELLENT VALUE.

We really enjoy the Orleans' experience from the rooms, restaurants, entertainment and gambling. Weekday rooms are a bargain compared to comparable properties located on or off Strip. Rooms are larger than average, same with the bathrooms. The pool area is nicer than other locals properties though inferior to the those at the mega properties. Spa services are fairly priced. Entertainment options abound including 2 lounges, a movie complex, bowling alley, and showroom.



The video poker inventory has been greatly enhanced by the addition of 20 machines offering FPVP at the 25c and 50c levels. Comps or cashback are earned at the of 0.30% and Boyd seems to be sending more marketing offers since assuming control.



One concern is the future of the free shuttle to the Barbary Coast which has been sold to Harrahs.

Orleans sent out a great email promo and we took advantage of it in Dec. 06. We had never played or stayed here and were very happy with our choice.



Everything you need is here, lots of great dining options, low table limits and a great variety of VP and slots at all levels.



Cocktail service was always around and the sports book was great. We loved our stay here and will do so again!

We have visited this casino just to gamble many times but on our last visit to LV we stayed here. We have read many reviews all rating this casino very highly. We were not disapointed. It is first rate in almost all categories. The rooms were great, the specials were in fact special and everything was most reasonable leaving money available for a little gambling. We will make this our first choice for our next visit.

Aside from the recently imposed $5 a night "resort fee" added on to the rates, the Orleans is a good vaue with large clean rooms and a fantastic buffet.
