The Plaza is great. And it's even better now since they bought all the fixtures for another casino that got caught in the recession and had to auction their belongings before ever opening. The Plaza bought more than any other casino which included most of their interior room decor, beds, etc. They also remodeled most of the casino too. So now, The Plaza looks like one of those fancy shmancy strip hotels with much lower prices and located downtown. They have everything you want in a casino and you can see the other side of the casino too! In other words, not too big. Their food is good and they have recently opened a Hash House A Go Go restaurant which is probably the best breakfast you'll ever have anywhere. You should go there just to eat. (By the way, you can also find a Hash House A Go Go at Imperial Palace and there is a stand alone one located in the 6600 block or west Sahara).
I don't know how anybody could not like the Plaza.
Pretty dirty.
I used to work at the Plaza when it first opened. It was clean and nice, but since then, it has deteriorated considerably. I feel badly that they have allowed it to go downhill.
Plaza Hotel & Casino
The Plaza Hotel & Casino is located at the far end of the Fremont Experience. The last time we visited the area the Plaza was closed for re-modeling. It has recently re-opened for business.
NEVER AGAIN
I thought I was at a motel 6 (years ago). Although room was comp'd didn't stay the second night - went to another downtown hotel. Casino okay - don't know what happened to our room.
Never again
My buddies and I are all middle-aged low rollers who take a March Madness trip to Vegas every....uh......March. We always stay downtown and for several of those years we've stayed at the Plaza. So we ain't expecting Bellagio.
But never again after our last trip. When we arrived we arranged for the casino rate with the poker room manager. After logging enough hours and getting the slip signed, I went to check out and had to haggle with the desk clerk for 30 minutes because "the code is wrong". And this is my fault how? The other guys checked out separately, had arguments of shorter duration, and we all ended up with different room rates(?).
One night at the blackjack table, the autoshuffler broke and the dealer just sat there for 20 minutes waiting for somebody to tell him what to do. Didn't call the pit boss, didn't start hand shuffling, nothing. Just sat there with his arms folded.
The hotel room itself wasn't terrible, but to get ice......ON A THURSDAY MORNING, mind you.....I had to go to four different floors to find an operational ice machine.
On a positive note, the cocktails come quickly at the tables, and I'll always love the craps games at the Plaza for the rowdy, fun-loving customers. But stay there.....never.

Very affordable place to stay
This is not a top of the range hotel by any means but we found our room clean and comfortable. We requested a hairdryer and an extra chair which were provided promptly. We were in the South Tower and had a good view of the strip in the distance. There are 6 elevators servicing the South Tower and we never waited more than 30 seconds for one.
The pool area was nice and quiet (in September) and there are tennis courts and a small gym which are free to hotel guests.
There is a McDonald's and a Subway on the ground floor along with the $7.77 buffet (not very many choices but what do you expect for the price!) and a Sports Bar on the 1st floor. There is also a Bingo parlour.
We found the cocktail waitress service in the casino good and the stage within the casino had a group playing on it at the weekends which gave the casino a good atmosphere.
We enjoyed staying Downtown for a change and we are going back to the Plaza for another 2 weeks in May this year.
My favorite place...
My husband and I like staying here, the comps are easy to obtain. The video poker in quarters have been good to us.
Buffet is basic but the food is always fresh. The rooms are clean, and they have added a new lounge with stage for shows. Need a host ask for Doug Clark!
