The Tropicana is a great place to visit if you don't mind driving to it. It's not an easy walk from the center part of the boardwalk. The shopping and restaurant choices are the best in Atlantic City and the game selection is excellent. Join the players club and you will usually receive a coupon book and emails with good offers!

I've stayed there at least 50 times, so I know a little about it. First, the rooms. The North Tower is terrible. Try to stay away from it. The South Tower is wonderful. If you like extra large showers, this is the place for you. If you're a Marathon runner or otherwise in incredible shape, the West tower is for you. Otherwise, try to avoid it.

They seem to have every slot machine there is. They try to keep them current and there are tons of them. The gaming atmosphere is pleasant and the staff friendly.

The buffet is okay. Nothing outstanding, but the food is good and there is plenty of choices. The breakfast buffet ($20) is terrific. Your eggs are made to order in front of you. Lots of sides to go with them.

The Quarter is filled with shops and restaurants. I can't tell you how pricey they are, but Brooks Brothers is very expensive. My favorite restaurant is Carmine's. It's an Italian family place with mega portions. Every meal is meant for at least 4 people. If you go with less, you will have lots of leftovers. So, order one item and you will all have plenty to eat. Since I usually go alone, I just order the garden salad. No matter how hungry I am, I never can finish it. I usually bring the leftovers to my room and have it for a midnight snack.

If you're into Asian card games, they have a large separate room devoted to that.

If you're a smoker, the entire downstairs area allows you to smoke. There are other scattered areas on the main floor where you can also smoke. Of course, about 75% of the casino is smoke-free, so there is something for everyone.

Hope you get lucky.

It is apparent that this hotel has no regard for its guests. It may have something to do with the current financial status and change soon coming.

I was there last week. My room wasn't ready at 4PM so I went upstairs and got the housekeeper to make it up. She told me she couldn't give me soap because she had none. A housekeeper without soap? The ice machine was broken. There was hair all over my bathroom. It was obviously a leftover from the previous guests. Those were the good things.

The elevators were not working. We waited 25 minutes for an elevator to stop on our floor. We finally gave up and walked down the 10 flights to the street. Along the way we met numerous guests who were walking from the floors above. If you wanted to go back up you waited on line with 30 or 40 other guests for your turn to get on an elevator.

I decided to check out the next morning at 7AM so that I could get an elevator to carry my bags down. This was the West wing. They had rooms available in other wings, but chose to disregard the comfort of the guests and put them where they knew there were major problems.

When I complained to management that morning, I was told they were making up for the inconvenience by letting guests check out later in the day. I wasn't sure if that was serious or a disturbed form of humor. I canceled my June30, 2009 reservation.

If you are booking in the winter months then this is a great place to stay. The Tropicana is one of the biggest resorts in Atlantic City. They have a shopping area called the quarter with many stores. They have many restaurants including PF Chang's, Carmines, & Hooters. Their buffet is a bit pricey ($22) but is one of the best in Atlantic City and they offer crab legs on weekends. The night life at Tropicana is also great. They have a comedy club, two bars and two clubs and they aren't for the elderly! Their rooms are nothing spectacular but they aren't bad at all either. The only negative about the Tropicana is it's location. It is basically next to nothing else in Atlantic City so be prepared to walk long distances, pay a cab, use your car or just stay in the Trop.

The best part about visitng the Tropicana is to walk around their shopping mall: The Quarter. It has some nice shops that are affordable (unlike The Pier) and a good variety of restaurants.

I always like to play Double Joker Poker at the Trop because they are the only casino in the city to offer a full-pay versino for quarter players (but you must bet 10 quarters).

I have never stayed in the hotel, but according to other posts on this site the rooms are good.

Thank you Tropo

I'm writing this review because the tropo has been good to me !!! We are Seniors that drive from Massachusetts 3 times a year to stay for two nights--usually the tropo comps us for one night. We figure that pays for the gas.

We have been doing this for the last 4 years. I play the penny slots with my wife and hit the crap table when I can sneak away from her.

We stay up late and enjoy the machines next to their magnificent theater where we usually get free tickets. We like to play very late when few people are around.

We seldom win money but consider our stay at the tropo a winning proposition. Or next visit is Feb 21st.

Buffet price is high compared to other casinos in Atlantic City. When seated, feel like sitting on floor. Better buffet at other places.

Nice hotel rooms, good bus offers.

I have stayed here twice, and enjoyed it! Rooms are always cheap in the winter months, but they are nice rooms!! The casino is not that bad either.

On the lower level they have a buffet, a bar and a Hooters. In addition, they have a little mall inside with some shops.

I will definitely stay there over and over. Everyone that works there is very personable!! Try it for yourself!!!!!
