For Charles Town Hollywood casino
Seldom payout....( Rearrrrryy) - Always no ice at the drink machine. So horrible.
I Win at Charlestown
I have been going to Hollywood Casino at Charlestown for the past couple of years and it keeps improving. It is generally very clean and I always feel safe. The cleaning personnel are constantly changing ashtrays and removing empty glasses. The restrooms are always maintained as well. There is an abundance of attendants and friendly managers on the floor to make sure things are running smoothly. The most exciting improvement to date is the new restaurant, The Final Cut. I have had the opportunity to eat there twice in the past couple months, and both meals were excellent ! I have read some previous reviews of the buffet in which the reviewers were dissatisfied, and since I have only eaten there once at breakfast I really cannot speak to the dinner buffet they offer....the breakfast was yummy however and I had no complaints.
As to the slot payouts - I have been most successful at the "higher stakes" slot machines...in fact I have won numerous Jackpots, and even multiple Jackpots on various occasions during the course of an evening which provided tons of excitement!!
The area I feel is lacking are the comps received for using the Players Club. The rewards there are pretty poor and the whole gaming/entertainment experience would be elevated with a little higher return on all the cashola inserted in the machines! At least I would feel I was a winner of sorts even when I was a big fat loser. All in all I enjoy the casino at C-Town and look forward to the future improvements in the works.
Avoid This Place
I have been to lot of Casinos and this place is the worst in PAYOUT. SIMPLY, they do not payout at all...If you want to throw your money away fast than go this place. I rather drive to AC or Dove Downs, D.E. at least you have better chance of winning and get better service. You know what, in my opinion, I wouldn't even call this place a Casino.
Wow what a bunch of whiney sore losers
Wow I love the way losers vent. So i visited this Casino recently because i had to know if it was really this bad.
Overall I personally found this place to be extremely well run.
Slots were definitely paying off when I was there. I was there for about 6 hours. Definitely saw many many jackpots going off.
Slot Attendants as they call them were walking around ready to help with a smile. They were very busy running around paying out all the jackpots I saw. However, when I stopped one to ask a question he was very friendly. I also saw several managers on the floor. Several asked me if i was enjoying myself. I stopped one young lady who said she was a slot floor manger and I asked her all about the casino as this was my first visit. She was very informative. I asked about the themed games like Wheel of Fortune and Sex in the City. She said they do want them, however, due to their higher tax rate they pay and royalty fees those games aren't profitable. It is a business people. They do need to put profitable games on their floor. Very pleasant and was very happy to help me.
I asked several guests I saw throughout the day how they liked it. I got no complaints and not one of them won a huge jackpot.
The Buffet I thought was decent for the price. I had several helpings of the Mac and cheese, sushi and creme brûlée.
Staff there was very pleasant.
I played on and off all day sticking to two machines and won many times throughout my day. No big wins but I did leave over $100 ahead. Maybe because I was smart enough to stick to two machines instead of hopping around to all different ones.
I cashed my ticket at a ticket redemption machine.
I found the casino cleaner then any other I've ever visited. I had many employees talk to me. Maybe because I'm pleasant myself. Reading some of these posts I wouldn't want to talk to any of you negative soar losers either.
Overall, I didn't see any of the above problems. Sounds like a lot of sore losers. I'd say go in realistic. Expecting to lose but have fun and you won't be disapointed. As far as the comments about people spending life's savings and being in wheelchairs and on oxygen tanks.....that's their own faults. They shouldn't be in there if they can't afford it. Or, if their health is an issue. I for one will go back. Because I had a great time. Nope I didn't get rich. What a shame I guess I'll have to keep working for my money and go to Charles Town for fun. Oh and I did ask about the Facebook photos. They have to get approval from
The winner and they'll post ANY winner on there. So throw your theory in the garbage. I also had to laugh at the theory that they plant people to play. That's hysterical.
Same Hollywood mediocrity as their other casinos
I've been to three different Hollywood Casinos: this one, the one in Maryland, and the one in Pennsylvania. None of them are high class operations.
The slots are horrible. The video poker slightly better. The table limits are ridiculously high. This is West Virginia, not a state that I would consider wealthy and table minimums are $25 with some having $100 minimums on the main floor (I'd hate to see the high limit room). The players club is worthless. And why each of their casinos have to have their own players card which is identical, I'll never figure out. The buffet is overpriced and bad.
Definitely not a place I would make a special trip to.
Greedy?
They claim to payback 89% of take on slots, yet you very seldom see jackpot winners. When you do, they are in the $1,200 to $2,000 range. This is why they are ashamed to post winners on their website. It is no surprise, when you see Charlestown you hear "tight slots!" This is the reputation they have gained and deserve. Maryland has real competition coming in the next year that will make Charlestown a distant competitor (70) miles from Arundel Mills and Ceasars in Baltimore. When you treat customers badly like Charlestown does, only because they can for now, it won't take much to win these folks over to MD.
I have self excluded from this money trap
My wife and I have gone to CT to play slots ever since it was a tent next to the racetrack. It used to be a fun, sometimes win, sometimes lose place to go that is close to home. Ever since they got the okay to add table games, the place went to crap at the slots. Now it is a great place to go if you want to donate your money to them. I have gone dozens of times in the last two years when you would not hear any slot bells or even see a jackpot or hand pay going on with their 5,000 slots for 4-6+ hours. When you do see a machine paying out, it is usually at the lower end of the payout scale. Also, the players club gives very little reward for the dollars you spent there. If you lose a thousand bucks, you might get a free drink.
The people that work there are great and I will surely miss them. I have filled out the papers that excludes me from being able to play there for at least a year. By doing that I cannot be tempted to go there when the urge to play strikes. I would rather travel 2 hours and go someplace that is not owned and managed by Penn National.
If they don't change their ways after my year of exclusion, I will make it permanent.
casino customer
very stingy with payoffs. Even small combinations are slim to none after $300 on one machine
Beautiful casino, a little pricey, needs more game
Hollywood Casino at Charles Town Races is very convenient for DC area residents, and has improved DRASTICALLY since table games/poker have been added and since renovation. The surroundings are beautiful. Customer service is great - we needed help from a slot attendant who later brought additional managers over to help us with an issue and the staff seemed very genuinely interested in helping us and spent a lot of time to do so. Everyone we asked for other help was also extremely courteous and friendly. There are several dining options and the atmosphere is very nice even the seating for the "food court" restaurants, but prices are on par with other casinos ($35 for buffet for example) which is a lot if you have 2 people and no coupons (we got no coupons when we joined the players club). Parking is free, unlike every other casino I've ever been to, and there is a free shuttle that goes to many hotels in the area that will drop you off at the front door. As for the games.... The table games have high minimums and some games are not offered (most notably you do not see my favorite - Caribbean Stud). If you don't want an ante of $15/$25 per hand you will be out of luck here, which I found disappointing considering I could play $5 antes at other casinos. The slots I was disappointed to find that many of the most popular newer machines are not represented here, particularly "licensed" machines like Sex and the City and Stargate SG1 and other licensed brand machines. I also didn't see any roulette or blackjack machines and not as many video poker machines as I would have liked. Another omission I found very surprising, considering they have a race track here, was that I couldn't bet on races at other tracks. The race track on site is a wonderful, unique feature here however and is the advantage here over other casinos. This is a good casino to visit for horse racing, convenience, and a nice atmosphere but is lacking in some of the games compared to Atlantic City casinos and minimums are high on table games.
Fantastic Casino
Visited this casino for the first time last week, and I was really impressed. Everyone posting all the bad reviews below either is a sore loser, or doesn't understand the concept of gambling at a casino. "Wahhhhh, I took my 20 dollars and they didn't let me play for 8 hours on their machines! I went with 50 bucks and didn't walk away a millionaire, what crooks! OMG they don't list all the winners on their website, they must be stealing from everyone!!!!" Gambling is fun. If you get that upset when you lose, you shouldn't be there in the first place, I'm sure the casino will survive even if they lose the whopping $25 you bring each trip!
The hotel was great, especially my room overlooking the race track. I don't bet on horses, but it was neat to watch them race from my room. The food was fantastic, especially the new Final Cut - try the bone-in ribeye, it was delicious! Wanted to try the pho at the buffet, but didn't get the chance. No free drinks, but prices for a beer were what I've come to expect at local casinos that charge for booze. Very nice selection of slots - some of my older favorites that I haven't seen in a few years, plus lots of newer bonus games. Tables were pretty crowded, but I found a nice spot at a blackjack game, and after playing for a few hours, the pit boss even gave the two of us dinner at the Skyline restaurant overlooking the track. The atmosphere was great too, it was crowded, but that made it feel exciting. The decor is top notch.
Overall, very impressed, and I plan to return here on my next visit through the area.
Tsk Tsk Tsk
Well, I am going to put it bluntly. I am a young gambler. I really do not go there thinking I am going to win big, therefor I have fun.. NOT.. Listen, I have went to "HollyWood Casino" 3 times in the past 30 days.,. Did I win any money? NO. I lost 1500 on their slots there.. Listen, the machines are EXTREMELY TIGHT HERE. It would nice surprise me that if the payout overall is about 80 percent. I mean, really.. you would think.. Ok.. 5 dollar on one machine.. quarter machine.. 0 wins? so, move to the one directly to right.. 5 dollars.. 0 wins.. so, I popped a 20 in the dollar machine by the bar.. Dont know the name of the game, I won 3 dollars.. lost 8.. won 2.. lost 8. Get the picture.. The machines here are not friendly for consumers.. I am a smoker, but yet, I go to the non-smoking section and get a RELIEF. Its sort of sad seeing the senior citizens just blow away their retirement, social security, and disability checks at this place..All in All..- this place does not have me as a customer anymore.. I will instead of taking the hour commute to here.. Go to Atlantic City/ Dover Downs instead...
Greed!
Charlestown takes advantage of its customers. Promises of "ACTION" mean you come, deposit your cash, and leave. Question, in recent years they boosted having such big winners on their website, yet today there are none? MD has many. Does it not seen a little suspect that all monetary records are keep secret, while MD post its records on the MD lottery website. Perhaps WV is covering up lack of legal payouts. That's OK, because in the future, Charlestown will be little competition for MD slots. Penn National will be the big winner!
UPDATE on Hollywood C-Town vs Hollywood Grantville
So 'Ma' and I went to Grantville Saturday 3/5/11, late morning- early afternoon. We hadn't been there for a couple of months. Keep in mind my last post about C-Town entitled "Don't Go"......anyway, walked into the casino, started playing, wasn't there 30 minutes, put a 20 in a 'double-triple sevens' and got "triple-triple-red seven on the 3rd spin, just one credit played : ( but won $320 YaY! Cashed out moved around played a 'double diamond 50 cent. Got 2 double diamond symbols with double bar ($160 each time) TWICE! within 10 minutes of each other. Moved on to another 25 cent machine, one of the newer ones, won $400. So I'll rap this up. We played and WON! all day. Never has this happened in C-Town NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, EVER!!!. BTW, I did all that on only $40! Anyway, I gave it all back to them. But, I had lots of fun, and it only cost me $40 plus gas from Chambersburg. Update 3/7/11 'Ma' went back to Charlestown with her sister. I was asked, but definitely declined. I did offer to drive her to Grantville, though. haha. Once again, She lost her ASS! Don't Go there People! If you are local you have other options, where you can win. If not local, drive the extra hour. C-town payout percentage is 89% ( I think it's lower personally) Grantville is 91%. Do the math. Just 3% makes a big difference in payouts.
Don't Go !!!!!
As the title say: Don't Go ! I moved from Florida to Pennsylvania to be close to my 77 year old Mother. She LOVES slots. Before my father passed, they would go to this Casino and spend the day, Wining and Losing. More winning according to her. These were the 'TENT' days. That was before my time, here. Anyway, I have been here in PA since 08, and have had to drive my mother to the rancid 'Ranson" Casino at least once a week, sometimes twice. Every week for three years! She has lost over 100,000 grand! She plays 25 cent to $1 dollar machines. I personally have lost at least 15-17 grand. In the three years, 2008 - 2011, I have won $650 twice, and $700 dollars twice. That's it. There really is no in between. They just take all your money quickly, I guess hoping you will revisit the ATM, which my MOM does. She wins on occasion but never anything worthwhile, the bell never goes off for either of us.........3 years, 1 or 2 times a week, all that money! We go to Dover DE, and Grantville PA also, and I usually can win or at least win enough to play for awhile at those casinos. The reason we keep going back to Ranson / Charlestown is because my Mother is determined to get one last 'bells and lights' jackpot. Then, she says we will not go back. We will frequent the others close by. This place is really costing me lots of money. Yes, I am aware it's gambling, But, there is gambling, and there is RAPE! This Casino will Rape you for every penny you have, given you allow it. NO WINS. PERIOD!!!!!!!!!!! Hear me folks, PLEASE.
Now for some observations we have made, and discussed with others, as well as visiting friends we have taken there for something to do. I MEAN NO OFFENSE by this at all. As a matter of fact you can use it to your BENEFIT at this Casino. The observations are these:
1) Lots of Poor People with canes, wheelchairs, walkers, hooverrounds, and even oxgygen tanks ( in the smoking area ?) They lose everything they have, including their "checks" if you know what I mean. Go there, play beside them, talk to them. They will tell you.
2) They plant people to play beside you and strike up a conversation. I've had this happen several times when my 'attitude' was not so pleasant, which I presume was caught on camera. LOL These people talk about "how great the place is, and how much they win". They will never acknowledge losses. Nothing but Positive about the Casino. Always neat in appearance, they never stay and chat long. 5 minutes max. NOT your typical casino patron.
3) They plant winners. These are the people who we presume work for the casino and are assigned specific machines in high traffic areas. They always bet max, and the credits just roll in. 9 out of 10 times they are attractive, outgoing Black Women. We see this too much to be coincidence. Some, while still winning and talking to you, will pull out a stack of their other tickets (I once saw 11 from 1 woman) with high dollar amounts. Never less than $100. We have never encountered this at another Casino.
4) 85 percent of the time, the only 'bells and whistles' you hear or 'high credit balances on slots' you will see are on the slots whose player is a Minority. Being Black, Hispanic, or Asian... Again, no Offense (use it to your benefit). We have discussed whether this is because of the ratio of minority to white. Conclusion is No. We've observed on days and evenings when the minority count was largely less than white, the only 'big winners' were/are of Ethnic decent.
5) Each and every time I have grabbed a Rum-n-Coke from a cocktail waitress, I have had 'black watery diarrhea' the following day. I suspect they are putting something into their bottom shelf liquor to expand it's volume? I can say with certainty, this is the only time it happens. YUK! Needless to say, I no longer imbibe there. I will help my self to a coke at the fountain on occasion. No problems yet. Just seems to be the liquor. Mom drinks the beer. No problems.
6) If you go, and you really shouldn't, the best food to be had is the Stromboli in the Food Court. Don't waste your time with the BUFFET! It's second rate at best. I've spent my life in the restaurant business, serving and cooking at some very nice places in Florida. I've also gone to some Awesome Sunday brunch Buffet's while living there. There is no comparison. If it's a buffet you want, find a RYAN's, the quality is only slightly worse, but you will save lots of money. There is an Appleby's very close by. NIX the buffet people. Oh, did I mention their deserts.......YUK! The worst creme brulee I've ever had! GAG! NOT WORTH IT if you're looking for quality.
7) They used to have a band on Saturday nights. It made the 'money raping' much less painful. Of course, some genius, sitting in Her or his office made the brilliant decision to take away the Casino's only redeeming quality. These people get paid big bucks figuring out ways to take more of our money, while giving us less, in the way of entertainment. RIDICULOUS!
I could go on, but I really want people to read this. Offer some feedback. If you are looking to go out and have some fun at a Casino, pass on this place if you are WASP. YOU'll lose. If you're of ethnic descent you may win big. My Partner says this review sounds "racially biased". I disagree. I am a critical thinker, always trying to understand how things work. These are observations made over a weekly, 3 year, and growing period. The conclusions should speak for themselves. I've got no choice but go back. Mom is determined to win, and when we hang out we go to Casino's. I walk through the door always hoping to get some of my money back from this place, and always leave feeling depressed and angry. That's not entertainment Folks!
The decision is yours.
Charlestown looking for new victims
If you visit Charlestown lately, you will notice a few things different. First off there are very few people there. Second, most are playing penny or quarter slots. This combination means one thing. No payouts on slots. They advertise 5000 slots, yet on a daily
basis, 3000 of them are not being used. 6 months ago, you would hear many advertisements, TV and radio, boosting 5000 hottest slots. Today, there are none, winners link no longer exist on their website. Instead you hear advertisements for MD
casinos, that have many big winners on their website, along with daily advertising on radio. Result, if you like slots, go to MD,
and avoid Charlestown.
Boycott all Penn national casinos
I have been to this place about 10 times in the past year. I finally decided that I will not be going back. Their FOOD SERVICE IS AWFUL! The food prices are extremely pricey and it tastes disgusting. There's always a long line for everything!...I mean everything! The food, the cashier, w.e. else you want you have to wait. They never have enough staff. Security is one big joke. They do nothing to control out-of-control guests. There's a lot of people (high-rollers) that think they own the place. I have seen other guests and employees get badly disrespected with no action taken by security or management.
Disappointing
There are absolutely no payouts at this casino. I have been to Vegas, Atlantic City, and Dover, and CT is such a joke in comparison. I have never left there a winner. The whole place is so smoke filled and the cigar smell makes me want to vomit. Not to mention the people who play 2 or 3 machines at at time and take up so much room, or the ones who aren't even playing but sit at the machine I want to play and act like it's a chore for them to move. Security should really step up and correct this. Also the last time I went there were so many machines that were disabled I wasn't even able to play the ones I enjoy. I hope changes are in the nearfuture for CT or I wll be going elsewhere.
disappointed in WV.....
Wow, such a missed opportunity. I was shocked to find high table minimums ($50 BJ at 3pm on a tuesday) and few tables open despite people needing to wait to get a seat. Worst was the dominance of smoke throughout this casino. I felt like I was in a casino from the 60's. It is very poorly ventilated and the smoke just hangs. That they allow cigars makes it intolerable for many. They have a non smoking area, but when I was there, only 1 bj table was open in that area.
The only plus was that the dealers were friendly and efficient.
Tons of losing reasons
Well, Been going there 10 years. Lost somewhere around $150,000. Just about everyone there has seen me or knows me.
I've hit from time to time over the years, but like I said, I'm down $150,000. All on slot machines. Take it from me.
You think you'll win here if you can gamble more. Not here and especially not in the last three years. This "gaming"
place is sooooo tight now. One time I won $5,000 on a machine 5 years ago and the attendant said to me that machine wasn't supposed to hit; nonchalantly. Then I knew the machines were rigged but I couldn't stop. The machines don't pay out like they use to. Jackpots are lower and if you come to break even, if you're "lucky" enough go home. To the management that doesn't care; your machines are rigged and I hope others realize this and stay away.
Charles Town Has Forgotten the Seniors
I have been coming to Charle Town, WV for years and with me I bring my mother and sister, It is a mini vacation. I know I am going to lose and I usually lose big, at least for my standards. There are times I could have taken an European trip with what I have lost. Over time I had worked up to a Gold Card with nice promotions for all of my loses. I was getting free weekly $100 slot plays, a free room at their Hotel and money for the food court.
Now that the tables are in, Charles Town is catering to those players. I have been down graded to a silver card, because I don't come enough and I got $15.00 for free slots. For November I am only getting $10.00. When I complained, they said I don't come enough, I explained to them that I am doing what I have always done.
I do believe they have forgotten it was the buses bringing in the Senior Citizens and some of the lower wage people that kept the place open. Now that they have the Tables we have been pushed to the side. Another case of Social Classes, The Have and The Have Nots. Shame on West Virginia.
I draw Disability Social Security, my mom is retired in is 80 and my sister works. We live in Virginia, a two hour drive for my sister and me and a 4 hour drive for my mom. So we can not come as often as we like. I can't, because like most seniors I have to save so I come every 2 to 3 months.
Well this will probably be my last trip to WV, I know there will be someone else to take my place. The world will keep rotating and the sun will come up.
I just wanting to get that out there on how I feel.
Just a nobody to Charles Town Races and Casino
0 needs to be a rating choice!!!!!!!
Long time gambler at CT from the days of the tent.. and the days of winning. However, those days are long gone..As others might agree the glamor of the newer and larger casino is being clouded by not only the smoke from smokers but the big disappointment of losing hundreds of dollars in just a few hours... I used to live 30 minutes away but moved hours away. Made a trip up from NC for a couple of nights which turn into one night after losing the alotted amount for the getaway. Hotel was very nice (had to get a suite because no reg. rooms were available.. $239.00 a night). Shuttle service from hotel to casino and back very slow. Letting others know hotel is not connected to casino. It was a pain in the butt to get there. Food over priced. Drinks a joke (no fault of the bartender) $5.00 for a 1/8 shot of well vodka out of the gun. Machines didn't even let you play a little bit. It's safe to say I will never be back. Final thought 0 should be a rating choice ... Fair well others beware.
Back to the giveaways
What a surprise, Hollywood Casino hasn't had a BIG PROMOTION for the last 5 months. Is it a coincidence that the latest
drawing is on the night that slots open in MD? No, this is just another SCAM to try and keep the few slots customers left.
And I can tell you, visiting Hollywood Casino CT these days, 70% of the slots are idle even on a weekend. They no longer
have a WINNERS link on their website, maybe because there are no winners, unless you count the minimal $1,200 occasional
jackpot?
This is the deal, CTRS has over expanded, they need your dollars to keep operating, not to make payouts on slots. Table games
are supposed to be the almighty savior. And from the reviews, this has also been a total disaster. By the way, your dollars are also needed so Penn National can open in MD, as well as fighting opposition from competitors, mainly Cordish at Arundel Mills. So keep going to Hollywood Casino and filling the deposit boxes (slots). Penn National will be grateful!
Table Games are horrible
I live in Fairfax County so I was really excited when they announced they would open table games at Charles Town. I went with some friends a couple weeks ago, and I have to say it was extremely disappointing. Here are the reasons:
1. Not enough table games. They clearly did not plan very well for the table games. They only have one tiny section of table games. Consequently, there were no empty chairs at any of the tables, and even people waiting behind each seat for someone to leave.
2. Table minimums were horrible. For example $50 minimum Blackjack. This is probably due to issue 1 about not enough tables.
3. Poker Room not large enough - After we left the table game area we decided to try the poker room. There was a 150 person wait list to play 1-2 No Limit. Who wants to stand around waiting 3-4 hours just to play?
4. Casino layout sucks. It feels like they jammed as many slot machines as possible into a Wal-Mart. It took a long time to even find the table games or the poker room as you have to wander around aimlessly in this sprawling maze of slot machines. They don't even have normal "walkways" between the slot machines for foot traffic so everyone has to try and weave in and out of the stupid machines.
My advice - Do not go here unless you want to sit like a zombie at a penny slot machine. You're better off going up to Delaware or PA or even Atlantic City for table games or poker.
Great tables environment for REAL gamblers
I visited Hollywood Charles Town for the first time in several years this weekend, and I must say that the upgrades are spectacular. The place looks amazing, top notch, just like high end joints you'd walk through in Vegas or AC. My wife lost on the slots, but she said they had a pretty good selection. I played the tables, and I wanted to point out that it was a great atmosphere for table games!
The place was packed, all the tables were filled, and the limits were high, as they should be, which keeps away the riff-raff and the $5 fleas. Nothing is worse that trying to make some money at a blackjack table, and then some $5 or $10 moron jumps in and plays like an idiot and ruins the table for the real gamblers. This is the closest I've had to playing at Vegas strip properties - everyone was betting at least $25 or $50, they were making the right plays, and the whole table was winning, and we didn't have to worry about some lowlife jumping in to win 10 bucks. All you "locals" complaining on here, I'll give you a few red chips so that you can go play your penny slots at 3 cents per spin. But here's hoping Hollywood keeps the tables up at decent levels where the real players can gamble and fleas don't interfere.
GREEDY GREEDY GREEDY
Hollywood Casino Charlestown, new name same game. This place is fighting to stay in business. After spending 41 million to get table games, they think they can set table limits so high, no one can afford to play. Sure the extremist will pay this at first, but what do you do a few months down the road after you have all but chased away all local customers. They have already lost slots players, no payouts. Even eliminated the winners page on the website. These are no longer slots, but deposit boxes for folks to come and deposit money to fund over expansion at CTRS. BOYCOTT!
don't go!!!!!!
I have been waiting, rooting, voting for tableg ames to come to CT for a long time. Finally they came and guess what ---- the people who voted to get the tables in are unable to play them!!!!! I have been there 4 times and there was no $5. - $10 - $15 - $25 table to be found. All I saw was $50. and $100. tables!!!!! GREEEDY GREEDY GREEDY They will price themselves right out of regular local customers after the hype is over!!!! DO NOT GO and help out the GREEDY casino!!!!!! It is cheaper to drive to either Delaware park ($10.00 tables) or AC. much cheaper to just drive there -
Reality Check
Here's a reality check -- you do not have a constitutional right to a $5 blackjack game. Table limits are based on customer demand. If they can fill up tables with $25 and $50 limits, why in the world would they lower the limit to $5 to accommodate a couple low limit players? And why in the world would a casino want to fill up its available seats with $5 players, who can buy in for $100 and sit at the table for hours upon end without bringing any additional revenue to the casino, and take available seats away from valuable $25+ players, who have the potential to generate thousands of dollars of casino revenue? If people are willing to pay $25 for a widget, the widget maker doesn't lower the price to $5 just to accommodate "lower limit" people. Why would a casino be any different? Casinos don't operate under some socialist system separate from the real world.
If you are upset because you go to the casino and can't play $5 blackjack, you really need a reality check. You are probably the same kind of person who gets upset that they can't get a $20 dinner comp after you lost 50 bucks playing tables and slots. If you can't afford to play more than $5 blackjack, maybe you should just stick to your penny slots, or stay away altogether? Or, better yet, start your own casino, offer nothing but $5 blackjack and cater to all the "lower limit" people, and see how long until you are forced into bankruptcy. But trust me, the casino won't lose any sleep over losing you and your $5 betting friends.
Hollywood all high limit and limited tables even a
Trip Report: Visited Hollywood today 7/13 @ 1PM EST. As for the supposed 85 table games, the following were open:
3- 3card poker (1-$25, 2-$50)
1- Craps ($25)
1- let em ride ($25)
2- 4 card poker (1-$25, 1-$50)
5- blackjack (2- $25, 2-$50, 1- $100)
3 Roulette- (2-$25, 1-$50)
2- baccarat (1- $50, 1-$100)
All tables were packed with lines deep, except baccarat, and 3 card poker, which were filled but no lines. I inquired if they will open another craps table - I was told no. According to the pit boss, they are still short dealers. I wrote marketing at Hollywood to explain my disgust for lack of tables open, and all high limit. Marketing explained the state of WVA is real slow in process dealer licensing. Once all 600 dealers are licensed limits will go down and # of table will increase, but this will take time. Marketing said to watch website for updates on open tables. They keep on pissing off the $5 and $10 players, which STINKS. Us low limit players should all email Hollywood of our displeasure!!!
Do NOT go to Charles Town WV to gamble!
Do NOT go to Charles Town WV to gamble! Their new "Hollywood" casino is in BIG trouble.
Can you imagine $50 minimum blackjack tables at 4:00pm on a Thursday
afternoon? Well, that's what they have! I asked why, and they said they
have a shortage of dealers! So, basically, they didn't prepare by hiring
enough dealers, and to remedy the situation, they are SCREWING the players!
They have rows and rows of brand-new shiny tables, all carefully roped off.
back in the only open pit, the smoke is so thick, you can practically cut
it with a knife.
This is the same "casino" with the reputation of having the tightest slots
on the face of the planet. I've played there three times before, and the
reputation is CLEARLY deserved. The management's true colors shine
brightly in this backwater. They will SCREW their players by taking
advantage of any situation in any way they can. My guess is, there's
nothing in the West Virginia law about being "Fair and Equitable."
What did their managers have to say about my complaints? I have no idea.
None of the employees on the floor knew where to find a manager. One slot
attendant simply waved her hand in my face and said "Whatever!"
Do NOT go to Charles Town WV to gamble!
NEVER AGAIN WILL I VISIT
The place was packed with very few employees working. HUGE LINES TO GET FOOD! When you got the the front of the line the cashier told you that half the stuff on the menu was out. The burger was gross and the fries were cold. Never in my life will I return to this mess. GO TO ATLANTIC CITY INSTEAD!
