Since 2006, about 15,000 jobs have been created at the state’s top casinos and casino taxes and licensing fees have generated $5.4 billion.

Pennsylvania’s government decided to allow casino gambling after years of seeing hundreds of millions of dollars leave the state and go to New Jersey or Virgina, where most of the state’s gamblers were ending up.

The legalization of casino gambling in Pennsylvania, especially that of table games which went through last year, has had an adverse affect on New Jersey’s gaming revenue which decreased by 9.4% in 2010. New Jersey is now working to make Atlantic City cleaner and safer in order to rebrand itself as a seaside resort destination.
