Ameristar Casinos to Acquire Mojito Pointe Casino Project in Lake Charles, LA

The casino operator has announced that it will add to the original plans for the casino, building 700 hotel rooms, and expanding the size of the western Louisiana casino, as well as increasing the number of parking spaces.
"This transaction now gives the company entry into a new market [Louisiana] where [it] previously did not have a presence and a clear growth trajectory," said gaming analyst Andrew Zarnett.
The acquisition is subject to approval by the Louisiana Gaming Control Board.

Las Vegas-based Ameristar Casinos has acquired a proposed hotel-casino project in Lake Charles, Louisiana. This means that the $500 million development will now eventually be completed.
Ameristar bought all of the equity interests of Creative Casinos for $32.5 million. This included Mojito Pointe, a hotel-casino complex on a 242-acre plot.
