Bally TechnologiesThe Nevada Gaming Commission has officially issued its first two licenses for online betting to International Game Technology (IGT) and Las Vegas-based Bally Technologies Inc.

This is a huge step for the gaming community, and it brings Internet casino gambling closer to becoming a reality.

Bally and IGT, which both manufacture slot machines, will simply offer online gambling technology to other licensed operators, as not to compete with the state’s casinos.

“This license, backed by our decade of interactive experience, will allow us to enable our casino partners with a way to provide wager-based online poker to their players,” vice president of emerging businesses at IGT Robert Melendres said.

According to CEO of Bally Technologies Richard Haddrill, the company has a deal with the Golden Nugget Las Vegas to provide an Internet poker product which is expected to be ready by the end of the year or early 2013.
