Final Approval Given For Casino at Rocky Gap Lodge in Maryland
The project is expected to be completed in the summer of 2013 and, when open, the new Maryland casino will
feature 850 slot machines and eventually expand to 1,000.
There is also a state work group currently discussing legislation to legalize table games in the state and add a sixth casino. This legislation may possibly be considered during a special session next month.
The Maryland state Board of Public Works has given final approval for the building of a casino at a
state-owned Western Maryland resort.
The casino will be opening at the Rocky Gap Lodge, which opened in 1998 but has had poor business do to its remote location. Officials hope the casino will help draw more visitors and turn the place around.
