“This is an exciting development; we are on the path towards creating a world-class entertainment destination. The video lottery terminals, which are a cornerstone of our casino, have been in our mind’s eye for nearly a year, and we are happy that the public will soon share our vision. We are in the final stage and are thrilled that Resorts World Casino New York City will welcome its guests to an optimum experience.” said Michael Speller, president of Resorts World Casino New York City.
Aqueduct‘s first gaming machines were expected to make their debut this summer, but a number of delays, such as asbestos removal, and other inconveniences with the old Aqueduct structure, pushed the opening date to fall, 2011. Aqueduct Racetrack’s new casino, called Resorts World New York, is being developed by the Malaysia-based Genting Group, and will open to the public in two phases. Phase one is scheduled to open in October with 2,280 VLTs, plus entertainment and dining options. Phase two is scheduled to open by Dec. 31 with 2,245 VLTs, 475 electronic table games such as blackjack, and more dining options and event space.
