The largest increase in revenue was at Greektown, where numbers were up 5.8 percent from August 2011. Revenue at MotorCity was up 0.2 percent and MGM Grand Detroit saw a 0.4 percent increase.
Recently, Detroit casinos have been facing new competition from Ohio casinos such as Hollywood Casino in Toledo and Horseshoe Casino in Cleveland, both of which opened in May. There are two more Ohio casinos expected to open within the next year in Cincinnati and Columbus.
Revenue at the two Ohio casinos was down in August when compared to July.
