The downtown Las Vegas casino was sold by the Siegel Group Nevada Inc. for an undislpsed amount and it will be closing its doors on Sunday, April 14.
“We are in the hotel and real estate business,” said Siegel Group President and CEO Stephen Siegel. “We are looking to upgrade into larger casinos. We want to be on the Strip, and we’ll have to get rid of smaller properties to make that happen.”
Siegel also said the company will try to find jobs for as many Gold Spike employees as possible at the company’s other Las Vegas casinos.
The Downtown Project will be announcing its plans for the property later this year.
