The emails employees received disclosing the sale said that Stevens was not planning to lay off any of the 600 workers at Fitzgeralds and that he would actually like to expand the staff by about 200 people. Stevens also plans to upgrade the hotel rooms and later rename the property.
“We have a lot of work to do here,” Stevens said. He was attracted to Fitzgeralds by its two level casino and he hopes to remodel the second level casino into a “Vintage Vegas” theme.
The sale is still waiting on approval from the Nevada Gaming Commission and the Nevada Gaming Control Board.
