“We are committed to giving our guests the best possible experience. This investment comes directly from customer input on what changes they wanted to enhance their visit to GSR.” Alex Meruelo, chief executive officer and founder of the Meruelo Group, said in a statement.
Construction is scheduled to begin in the fourth quarter of 2011. Renovations include a bigger and better Mustangs country-western dance hall, a new Mexican restaurant with Northern Nevada largest tequila collection and updated guest rooms and suites. According to Grand Sierra Resort & Casino press release, more than $1 million will be invested in the new dance hall, which will have a larger dance floor, increased capacity and a country crossover look. There will be a new lounge on the casino floor with hidden coves and plush furniture. Additional renovations will be announced soon.
“The plan to renovate Grand Sierra Resort reinforces Meruelo Group’s commitment to ensuring the quality of the property. These renovations will solidify GSR as the No. 1 choice for locals, leisure guests and conventioneers.” added Tony Santo, CEO and president of Santo Gaming LLC, which is the managing group for GSR’s gaming and non-gaming assets.
