The plans for the track are dependent on state approval as well as the outcome of a lawsuit challenging the legality of slot machines at racetracks. If the state wins in court, both Hard Rock and Northfield Park hope to have the additions ready for business in about a year.
The announcement comes a month before the Horseshoe Casino Cleveland opens. The Horseshoe is just one of four Ohio casinos currently under construction.
Hard Rock currently operates hotels and casinos in Hollywood and Tampa in Florida, Las Vegas, Biloxi, Mississippi, Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic and the Macau region of China. A hotel may later be built at the Northfield Park location.
