In an interview given to Illinois Radio Network on Wednesday, Harrah’s Metropolis General manager, Mark Osterhaus said that a restoration crew is “working around the clock” to welcome patrons on Friday, May 27th. According to Osterhaus, the damage is estimated at $3.5 million. Flooding waters affected several areas of the casino, including carpeting, lighting, escalators and elevators on the casino’s boat ramp.
The casino was forced to close on April 24th due to high water on the Ohio River. Metropolis city officials say the city usually collects about $18,000 a day in casino taxes.
