The momentum from the grand opening is not expected to last forever, but the Kansas casino should do rather well.

Officials are also happy to see that the opening of the casino is not having a detrimental effect on its sister casino, Argosy Casino & Hotel Kansas City.

“The good news early on is the market has absorbed a fifth competitor, and we’re encouraged by what we’ve seen so far,” said Tim Wilmott, COO of Penn National Gaming Inc., who owns both casinos.

22 percent of the casino’s revenue will go to the state, 3 percent will go to the Unified Government of Wyandotte County/Kansas City, Kan., and 2 percent will be put towards a problem gaming fund.
