The 600 workers, who are splitting two 10-hour shifts, are being very careful with the historic building and a preservationist group is monitoring the work, making sure tax credits are not jeopardized.
The building’s original columns, doors and other architectural features are being preserved.
The Horseshoe is trying to create a different style of casino. There will be windows and the casino will make an effort to get customers to eat and shop at outside restaurants and stores.
“We won’t be a bunker. It won’t be a place where you come and stay all day and go home,” said Marcus Glover, General Manager .
The Horseshoe is planning to open in late March, but an official date has not yet been set. The goal is to be the first of the Ohio casinos to open.
