The newest Megabucks® winner, who wished to remain anonymous, arrived at the Grand Sierra Resort and decided to take a spin on the dollar Megabucks® machine after a long, seven-hour drive from California. Only moments later, the lucky winner hit more than $10 million.
“I can’t believe that this is happening. This is going to have to sink in!” he said.
This is the third Megabucks® jackpot to hit this year. Two Megabucks® jackpots were hit at Aria Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, the first in January, 2011 for $12,768,933, and the second in April, 2011 for $10,636,897.
Launched by IGT in 1986, Nevada Megabucks® is the world’s first wide-area progressive slot system. In its 25 years of history, IGT’s Megabucks has awarded players more than a $1 billion in jackpots, including more than $738 million in Nevada Megabucks® jackpots.
Megabucks® has also paid major winners with jackpots ranging from just over $1 million (when one million dollars was the system’s base jackpot) to the world record slot jackpot of more than $39 million, hit in March, 2003 at the Excalibur Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.
