“Certain forms of iGaming, especially poker, rely on large pools of potential players, and states that move swiftly to design a system that captures the widest audience of participants will have an advantage in terms of long-range success,” wrote Cullerton.

Cullerton wants to pass online gambling legislation as soon as possible since the U.S. Senate has legislation pending that could preclude Illinois and other states from having online gaming if they have not already started when a federal law is put on the books.

Illinois has several casinos, including the Grand Victoria Casino, Hollywood Casino Aurora, Harrah’s Joliet and the new Rivers Casino.

Nevada and New Jersey are also looking to add online gaming to their casinos.
