DiamondJacks is the last of Vicksburg’s five casinos to reopen after the Mississippi River flood forced several properties to close in early May. Rainbow Casino Hotel Casino Mississippi reopened in May, Grand Station Casino, which closed for remodeling prior to the flood, reopened early this month. The Ameristar Casino Vicksburg and Riverwalk Casino and Hotel remained open throughout the flood.
DiamondJacks Casino ceased its operations and close to the general public on Monday, May 9, 2011, when order from the Mississippi Gaming Commission led to its temporarily closure due to security reasons. Now the DiamondJacks Casino Vicksburg, which according to the property officials suffered no water damage, will reopen at 3 p.m on June 15th. Mayor Paul Winfield, along with city tourism officials and casino executives will celebrate the reopening during a news conference set to take place at 11 a.m. at the DiamondJacks Casino.
