Mississippi Gulf Coast casinos had their best July since 2008, with gross casino revenue in South Mississippi surpassing $100 million for the second time this year.
According to numbers released by the Mississippi Department of Revenue this week, the state’s 12 Coast casinos won $104.5 million in July, a five percent increase from July of last year. It was the best month Coast casinos have seen since August 2008.
Biloxi casinos brought in $82.6 million, with the Margaritaville Casino (which wasn’t open in July of last year) helping the area to surpass last year’s $74 million.
Overall, Mississippi casinos brought in $210.6 million in July, a three percent drop from a year ago.
