Fortune Valley Hotel & Casino, largest casino in Central City, Colorado, which changed ownership in January, will unveil a new look and an improved gaming floor and accommodations on July 1st. The renovated 300,000-square-foot property will debut a new Las Vegas-style nightclub, a new Italian restaurant with a selected wine cave, approximately 800 slot machines, 20 table games and a party pit. In addition, each of the 118 rooms and suites in the hotel have been revamped to feature a theme based on a music genre or artist.
In Cripple Creek, Big Jim’s Gambling Hall and Saloon will also open at the old Imperial Hotel & Casino, closed in 2010. The renovated property will offer players 200 slot machines and four table games. A new casino is also preparing to open in Black Hawk. The new Sasquatch Casino will house 74 slot machines and open at a property recently vacated by Bullwhackers Casino.
According to the Denver Post, the Colorado Limited Gaming Control Commission will review retail license applications for Big Jim’s and Sasquatch Casino in Black Hawk. The new casinos are opening less than two months after the gaming commission voted and approved a 5% tax cut aimed to help Colorado’s gaming industry. This week, Colorado Limited Gaming Control Commission leaders defended the casino tax cut in front of the state Legislature’s Joint Budget Committee, saying that the tax break is necessary to keep more casinos from closing. The new tax rate goes into effect July 1st.
