The Louisiana casino, which will be located north of the Alexandria/Pineville area off U.S. Highway 167, will be a Class II casino. This means the casino will have gambling machines but no Vegas-style games such as blackjack or craps.
“People sometimes have lower expectations when it comes to Indian gaming,” said general manager of the casino Philip Pepple, “I think this is one of those times people will truly be impressed.”
The Choctaw Pines Casino will feature a 46,000 square foot gambling floor with 700 machines and a poker room as well as a buffet and sports bar. Casino officials say that expansions will be planned for the future, but a timeline has not yet been set.
The casino is also expected to create about 300 jobs.
