The debut of Illinois casino comes a few weeks after legislators passed a measure to expand gambling in the state. The bill would add five more casinos in Chicago, Danville, Rockford, Park City in Lake County and in a south Chicago suburb.
Previous to its grand opening, the new Rivers Casino held a pre-opening event last Friday for approximately 3,000 people, and VIP’s, including Des Plaines Mayor Marty Moylan, city staff managers, Greg Carlin, president of Midwest Gaming and Entertainment, LLC, owners of the casino, and representatives of the Illinois Gaming Board. The casino also held a special VIP invitation-only gala event Last Sunday, July 17th and featuring comedian and actor Jim Belushi.
Located at 3000 S. River Rd. in northwest suburban Des Plaines, the 147,000 square foot state-of-the-art Rivers Casino features a 44,000 square foot state-of-the-art gaming floor featuring 1,050 of the newest slots with the most popular game themes; 48 table games including blackjack, craps, roulette, pai gow poker, baccarat and many more with the highest table limits in Illinois; a plush VIP area including an intimate gaming salon and an exclusive lounge.
The casino also offers five dining destinations and exciting entertainment venues including Lotus, a sophisticated cocktail lounge at the center of the casino floor, and Cube which has a multi-level outdoor patio and easily transforms from a state-of-the-art sports bar to a live performance venue or a lively night club. Customers can also join River’s generous loyalty program – the Rush Rewards Players Club, and receive invitations to promotions, special events, discounts, priority lines and more.
Rivers Casino will be open daily from 9 a.m. to 7 a.m. Must be at least 21 years old to enter Rivers Casino. Valid government-issued photo ID required upon entry.
