The collapsed area was blocked off, which caused the casino to lose of a significant chunk of its gaming area. Officials say that despite the setback, the Oklahoma casino resort has managed to keep its revenue about even with the year before.
While they were originally planning to build a new hotel tower in a different spot to the north, Cherokee Nation Entertainment officials have now decided to move up plans to construct a third hotel tower in the space.
The casino began construction on the $52 million, 10-story tower in November of last year and it should be completed this year.
Once the tower and its 100 rooms are complete, the hotel will have 456 rooms. This will make it almost equal with the 460-room Hyatt Regency Tulsa, the largest area hotel in terms of rooms.
