Opening of Ohio’s First Two Casinos Will be Delayed Due to Licensing Process

While similar probes in other states generally last between nine and 18 months, the state was trying to help the casinos by completing the licensing investigation in only four months.

Fredric Gushin, who is managing director of Spectrum Gaming and the state commission’s consultant said that opening dates should be pushed back to at least June.

“No regulator anywhere can guarantee a specific opening date,” said Gushin.

Hollywood Casino Columbus and Horseshoe Casino Cincinatti are not expected to face delays and should be opening in late 2012 and 2013, respectively.
