Pennsylvania House Passes Bill to Auction Off State’s Last Casino License

“We have to take a long-term look at the industry and its return to the state treasury,” said Senate Majority Leader Dominic Pileggi (R., Delaware County). “I think there is still an open question whether the commonwealth will benefit.”

If passed, the bidding will begin at $65 million and the state Gaming Control Board will have the final say over where, and to whom, the new Pennsylvania casino will go.

Many people, including the city’s mayor, feel that Philadelphia would be the best location for the potential casino and that the extra income would go a very long way there.
