Casino MonteLago, the only casino in the MonteLago Village Resort, was forced to shut in March, 2010, due the economic crisis. This month, the Nevada Gaming Commission approved Intrepid Gaming’s request to operate the Lake Las Vegas casino with a non-restricted gaming license. Now the casino plans to open to the public on May 26th with 275 slot machines and electronic table games, and less than 100 employees. The casino will not offer any live table games in an effort to reduce operational costs. Prior to the opening, there will be a party outside the casino starting at 7 p.m. and a fireworks display right before the doors open at 9 p.m.
To commemorate Casino MonteLago’s Grand Opening, Ravella at Lake Las Vegas will offer guests the opportunity to spend the evening at the slots or take a chance at a game of video poker before retreating to Ravella’s luxurious accommodations.
For a limited time, guests will have the chance to book rooms at a reduced rate and enjoy a series of special Memorial Day Weekend events for only $18 for adults and $9 for children ages four through 12 per event, including two family friendly pool parties, with one hosted by Holly’s World and Absinthe starlet Angel Porrino. Event wristbands can be purchased upon check-in.
Saturday’s Caribbean-themed bash will include a live steel-drum band, dishes like jerk pork shoulder and banana fritters, and even a shaved-ice station for the kids. When Sunday rolls around, head back to the pool for an afternoon with Porrino and her son Roman. Munch on summer favorites including smoked beef brisket, drumsticks and a hot dog-by-the-foot station. Relax with the entire family while you jam to top hits played by a poolside deejay. Kids will be delighted with balloon animals, face painting and cotton candy.
