Construction on the $35.5 million, Jimmy Buffet-themed project will begin in September and will include two restaurants, a bar, retail area and additional gaming. The project will also include the rebuilding of the Steeplechase Pier and a makeover of the casino’s facade.
Although it will be the brand’s first in Atlantic City, Resorts will not have the only Margaritaville casino. Last year Buffet opened the Margaritaville Casino in Biloxi, Mississippi and an additional Margaritaville Casino is scheduled to open in 2013 in Bossier City, Louisiana.
Casino officials say they plan for Resorts to keep its own identity and they plan to keep the casino’s Roarin’ ’20s theme.
