Atlantic City’s newest casino, Revel, was awarded its casino license on Monday by the state’s Casino Control Commission.

The $2.4 billion megaresort will be the first new Atlantic City casino to open in nine years. The city’s last new casino property to open was Borgata in 2003.

Revel will hold a special three-day, invitation only, “play day” event this Wednesday, Thursday and Friday evenings, before opening to the public on Monday, April 2.

The resort will then hold its official grand opening on Labor Day weekend which will feature a concert by singer Beyonce, plus other special events.
