Most of the competition from Ohio casinos was due to the Hollywood Casino Toledo, which has drawn gamblers from southeast Michigan and given gamblers in Ohio a closer casino to visit rather than traveling to casinos in Detroit.

While some of the drop in revenue can be attributed to the fact that 2012 was a leap year and had one additional day, gaming experts say as much as a 5 percent of the decline may be due to Ohio casinos.

Greektown Casino saw the largest drop in revenue, with numbers dropping 18.4 percent to $26.6 million, and MotorCity Casino saw the smallest drop with revenue down 10.8 percent in February when compared to last year.
