The river county casinos brought in $83.9 million in revenue last month, down 10.6 percent when compared to October of last year. This year, October had one less weekend which may have slightly affected the drop in revenue.
Another factor in the falling revenue is competition from Southland Park Gaming & Racing. The Arkansas casino, which recently underwent an $11 million makeover, has seen a major increase in business in recent years.
“Tunica will continue to look for opportunities [in Tunica] to grow the market,” said Allen Godfrey, executive director of the Mississippi Gaming Commission.. “They’re fighting a tough battle because once you’ve lost people, it’s hard to get them to come back.”
