“After three years of increasing growth and positive signs in all sectors of the industry, it’s clear that we have weathered the recession,” president and CEO of the AGA Frank J. Fahrenkopf, Jr. said. “Whether we look at jobs, casino visitors served or tax revenues being provided, the bottom line is that there is much to be optimistic about in the commercial casino industry.”
Out of the 22 states that have casinos, 15 saw increases in casino revenue statewide in 2012. The states that saw the largest increase were Maryland, Kansas, Maine, New York and Ohio, all of which have recently added or expanded gambling.
Las Vegas casinos remained the highest grossing in the country, bringing in over $6.2 billion in revenue in 2012.
