Since its grand opening on July 18th, the casino located at the northwest corner of Des Plaines River Road and Devon Avenue, has welcomed 270,000 visitors, a number that surpasses the monthly visitation at other 9 casinos throughout the state.
Gaming revenue at Rivers Casino is also the third largest in the state with $17 million in its first two weeks of operations, exceeded only by the Grand Victoria Casino ($22,964,000) and Harrah’s Joliet ($18,963,000).
According to state gaming authorities, only on the day of the grand opening, approximately 18,000 people flooded the new Rivers Casino Des Plaines. But while the novelty of the Rivers Casino might been attracting large crowds, City officials expect the gaming property would generate from $325 million to $400 million in its first year of operations. Developers said the Rivers Casino location just minutes from O’Hare and up the street from Rosemont’s convention centers, also makes the property highly accessible to neighboring communities, which also contributes with the casino’s recent popularity.
“It just shows what a great location and what a first class operation it is. We’re hopeful that they’re going to be able to sustain a high number of clients and customers because of the location and the quality of the establishment.” Des Plaines Mayor Marty Moylan explained last week.
