SugarHouse Casino in Philadelphia Wants to Nearly Double in Size

Ian Cope, from Cope Linder Architects, said that construction would take about 15 months and plans include expanding the casino’s gaming area to 90,000 square feet from its current 51,000. They will also add a poker room.

SugarHouse
, one of the smallest Pennsylvania casinos, originally opened in 2009 with approval from the state’s gaming board, but at that time the company promised that when business conditions warranted, they would build a bigger casino.

Company officials said that with this expansion it would bring the total investment in Philadelphia’s first and only casino to more than $500 million.
