According to Tropicana’s president and chief executive officer Tony Rodio, the updates are part of a four-year master plan that calls for renovations to all four of the hotel’s towers. While the company’s board of directors has given conceptual approval to the plan, they have only committed funding for the North Tower and other parts of the first phase of the project as of right now.
“We want to do stuff over the next few years to completely transform the facility,” said Rodio. “In each of the four years we would renovate a tower.”
Analysts say the property’s renovations come at an important time as the Golden Nugget Atlantic City has just completed a $150 million revamp and the Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa is in the finishing stages of a $50 million renovation . It is important for the Tropicana to keep up to stay competitive.
