Two Men Arrested After Beheading Bird at Las Vegas Casino

Eric Cuellar and Justin Teixeira, both 24-year-old Berkeley Law students, were arrested at the Flamingo Las Vegas on charges of suspicion of conspiracy and willful malicious killing of wildlife. Because of  Nevada’s strict animal rights laws, the latter is a felony charge.

According to police, the men chased the 14-year-old bird, which was part of the casino’s Wildlife Habitat, into some trees and emerged carrying both the body and the animal’s severed head.

The police were called to the scene at about 9:35 a.m. and the two men showed school IDs.
