State gaming authorities say the West Virginia casino and resort closed the month with $66,833 in table game losses. Blackjack tables at the Greenbrier Casino Club closed the month with $293,893 in losses, baccarat lost $97,491 and roulette lost $51,135 during the month, all caused by high individual wins. Other table games, including poker, generated a $375,686 profit. Lottery officials did not released specific details on the payouts, however, other sources said most of them came in the blackjack, mini-baccarat and roulette table games.
But while table games at the Casino Club closed the moth in red numbers, Greenbrier spokeswoman Lynn Swann said the resort was able to balance the loss thanks to the Greenbrier Classic golf tournament held on the last week of July. The week long event attracted thousands of visitors and guests, and the resort’s 710 rooms were booked during the entire week of the tournament.
All other West Virginia casinos closed the month with better results. The Hollywood Casino at Charles Town Races & Slots leads the list with $14.1 million in winnings. Mardi Gras Casino & Resort in Nitro won $1.7 million, Mountaineer Casino Racetrack & Resort in Chester brought in $3.3 million and Wheeling Island Hotel-Casino-Racetrack took in $1.2 million.
