The tribe had originally planned a much larger, $90 million project that involved a much larger resort-style hotel and 2,000-seat entertainment center, but the weak economy caused them to scale plans back.

“This is a scaled-down version on where we were going; much more feasible than the first project,” said casino General Manager Gary Hayward. “What we did was redraw and retool it and it’s a nice project.”

The tribe held a groundbreaking ceremony last week and construction is expected to begin soon.
