Okada is one of the company’s founders of Wynn Resorts, which owns and operates Wynn Las Vegas, Encore and Wynn Macau. He indirectly owns 19.66% of the company and has invested a total of about $380 million in Wynn projects, plus he has a Japanese restaurant named after him at the Wynn Las Vegas property.
According to Okada’s attorney, he “has the right and obligation to be informed concerning the company’s business so that he may ensure that it is being managed properly for the benefit of all of its shareholders.”
The conflict started after Wynn Resorts made a large donation to the University of Macau Development Foundation last year. Okada objected to the donation and asked to see the company’s financial records.
