the cruz i loved
Very horrible experience, me and my husband attended the boat last week! I like slots but play a little blackjack, my husband plays blackjack! We're from New Jersey, well the pictures of the slot winners are few and are probably over the last 20 years. Worst ive ever seen was a young man get taken advantage of on the blackjack table, he stated he sat there to play no mid shoe entry witch is what was advertised on the table. I seen favoritism to let others entry his shoe as he was in the middle of one! He told the pit boss, and the pit boss was very unprofessional didn't care that the rules were broken on this young man! I really felt sorry for him, they told him He was wrong when he was right. well me and my husband won't be going back there!!!

DON'T DO IT!!!
Thinking about trying this place for over a year and asking locals about it. Against the negative comments I received, most second hand, I visited this casino anyway. BIG MISTAKE! I am a seasoned gambler. First of all the boat is MUCH smaller than I imagined, the same length as the ferry boat that took me out there. Everything about the place is run down, in disrepair and filthy. The dealers seemed nice enough, the captains handled the boats great. The staff obviously don't make a lot of money but everyone was polite enough and I tried to tip generously to brighten their day. Some of them didn't seem too pleased to be there or were over worked, but they tried, I doubt they get treated very well. The table games seems legit, but I don't know about the slots. This place was NOT fun. The table limits were so low a real gambler cannot bet properly. Roulette $10 max per number, $50 mac on the 2:1's, $5 table minimum. They don't even offer marked chips so if you want to gamble with anything other than $1 you are limited to one each player using value $25 or $5 chips on the inside. Blackjack also had low limits with a $100 max bet. They seem to cater to people that really don't know how to gamble and most of the people coming off the boat were complaining of loosing their entire bankroll, which was $50 or $100 and less, which shows what type of people this place attracts. Found one $1 slot machine, the rest all penny to 25 cents, didn't even bother. I am not a gambling snob, but this place is not glamorous, exciting or fun and if the upkeep of the vessel is anything like the looks of the casino itself, probably not even safe. Unlike a real casino this place seems to take advantage of the uneducated or inexperienced gamblers with small bankrolls that are almost guaranteed to go home with less than they came with. In summary, disappointed is an understatement, avoid this place.
Ruined a good thing
Suncruz is no longer what it use to be. They took a good thing and ruined it.They got rid of the big casino boat and replaced it with a tiny, old and outdated, dirty boat. There's maybe 50-60 machines and half of them are broken, along with the ATM. They charge for drinks and food now too. Employees look miserable and act like they are being held against their will. I tried speaking to one the employees about all the changes and she mumbled something about a management change. The only positive things I can say about my recent experience is that the liquor and beer selection (because they make money off of the sales now) and Entertainer are a lot better than before. They should change their business to a booze cruise that offers a few slot machines instead of a casino cruise that offers booze. When almost half of the whole 50 slot machines they have are broken and only one BJ table open, it makes you wonder why they call it a casino to begin with.
Took my brother and sister on the trip and had a great time. The service was good and the food was fine. We didn't win but had a beautiful sunset. My sister was able to sing with the DJ on the upper deck. Want to do this again.
Great Casino Cruise and Lots of Fun !!!
Went out with a couple of friends last weekend and had a blast! Jake the entertainer is the best!! I read a few reviews and can't believe that people can be so... let me find the proper word.... Ridiculous! As I'm reading a review saying the bathrooms are in the basement?? 3 floors down?? The bathrooms are down nine steps from the main slot floor and they were extremely nice and very clean! Also saying that the boat is dirty?? I walked all around all three levels and everything was exceptionally clean. The ac was very comfortable, wasn't hot at all. I would say maybe 72 degrees. I did here that they did have some ac problems before but they have been fixed now. Don't listen to the all the ridiculous negative reviews, go check it out yourself like we did. We had a very enjoyable time. I think most of the negative reviews that people post are from people that are upset because they now charge for food and drinks, get real people and stop expecting everything for nothing. They do comp drinks if your a good player. The food was excellent!! The drinks were extremely reasonable, $3 for a 16oz can of Bud and $6 for Crown and coke. What my husband liked the best was the Black Jack minimum bet was only $5.00 per hand NOT $50.00 like in Tampa. We will be going again.
The best experiences on this cruise was the entertainment by the singer, Jacob, and the excellent food service by Malcolm and Cassie! Jacob, the singer cheered up the dull cruise with his pleasant personality and great rendition of popular tunes. five stars for Jacob! Malcolm and Cassie were exceptionally courteous, outgoing and efficient as they tended bar and served food. Otherwise, I waited over half an hour over a broken slot machine, then moved to another. The ship is like a tub with slots. and the bathroom was down a steep of stars with one and a half railings and the steps were steep to the the top deck. The ship isn't safe for anyone handicapped, and if the slots don't work, what about the rest of the ship (the ship stalled half way out). The ship is tiny and should only hold sixty people. Staff and entertainer were exceptionally helpful and they made the cruise bearable! Thank you staff! Cruise was terrible and made me feel sick from the dirty, smelly boat.
When we called we were told it cost $8.00 to board and you get 1 drink coupon, but everything was new and we would be pleased. The only thing new was possible a poor paint job. The shuttle boat is the same size as the gambling boat. Only about 50 very very outdated slot machines, and 12 of those were turned off. There were only 6 gaming tables, with only 3 of those open. There was a bar that sat 6, and this was where everyone had to go to get their 1 free drink, as well as where you had to go to order food and with more than 3 people in that area you couldnt get to the stairs. on a positive the sandwich was good.
we go out on the ship a lot, this was our last time, it was terrible. It took us 2 hours to get out there, no shuttle, sitting on a stool, narrow stairways only 1 person could go up or down, slot machines too close together, had to keep getting up so someone could get by, no more free drinks while gambling, no more free lunches, and it was so hot, between hot air and cigarette smoke, it was impossible to play for long. Our party of 9 all said we would never go out on the Suncruze again.
I took my third trip with Sun Cruz on Jan. 22, 2015 and it will be my last!! They now have a “new” Casino boat. The boat is small, cramped and has a horrible choice of slot machines. You can’t even walk down the aisle without bumping into another person. People with walkers are doomed on this casino boat. Match play, early week promotions (web site still shows they have the promotions) and a free sandwich no longer exist with the boarding fee. Cashing in tickets prior to the return trip is absurd. No line can be formed and you are literally shoulder-to-shoulder with guests trying to go back downstairs. I talked with several people and none said they would ever come back. They also said that they would fight the horrible traffic in Tampa to go to another casino. I e-mailed SunCruz voicing my opinion and they never responded. Not a great way to run a business. Word of mouth advertising is the best (and worst) in my opinion. Ownership made a HUGE mistake by not renovating the old boat in lieu of purchasing this new one.
bad experience on casino boat
Most of the slots either were noKt working or they would not take your money and I include the tokens. I would not go back.
stuck on boat
went on boat sunday 7/7/13 .3.30 shuttle. We were supposed to return on the 8pm shuttle, but to our surprise the shuttle didn't show up. When we asked the rude staff where the shuttle is not one of them knew anything. We waited almost an hour before someone came on the intercom to inform us the machines would be shutting down because we had to go meet the shuttle. Still no one knew what was going on. well the big boat circled around for about 45 minutes and shuttle finally arrived. Meanwhile people were getting calls from relatives waiting for them at the doc since 9pm It is now 11pm. We still never found out why we were stuck on that boat for almost 3 hours after we were supposed to be back in port. Will never go on this boat again, it is no fun not knowing if you will ever see land again.
Had a great time! Loosest slots around!
After reading some of the previous reviews, we were questioning if we should go or not. My husband LOVES to play dice and I LOVE the slots, so we decided to give it a try. We are so glad that we did! We had a GREAT time! The boat ride out was beautiful. My husband said he had the best time being able to play craps and the dealers were very friendly as well as all of the staff that I spoke with and I have never seen so many people winning on slot machines like they were here. The Chicken sandwich was delicious, the best I’ve ever had. It's also nice that the food and drinks were free. Only a $5.00 ticket price and they gave me a match play for the slots and my husband got one for the dice table. We will be back,it’s a great place for a night out. I usually don’t write reviews but being that we weren't going to go because of reviews and then going out on the Suncruz for myself and having a great time, I felt like I should post a review. Like my husband said, it is very hard to please a gambler if they're not winning, and everyone knows you don't win every time. Plus they take out thousands of people a month so how can you take a couple of reviews too serious? Can’t wait to go again!
Bil Validators Don't Work and They Won't Make Good
After stuffing dozens of $20 in their $1 slots with the biggest payout at $40, there was one $20 bill that didn't register in the bill validator. A young attendant then fiddled with the validator, put in another $20 that did register, took the money out, and then told me that since his $20 worked, then mine would have also worked and he could do nothing for me. He insisted that he wasn't calling me a liar, and then refused to get a manager to help me. I had to announce this robbery to the nearby patrons to then get the manager to appear with a bunch of goons that looked ready to toss me overboard. The manager must have checked the cameras and saw that I was the highest roller they had, losing over $1000 in just about 3 hours. So, he came over with 20 coins and said the attendant was wrong. On the return trip, I met a very elderly couple that had the same problem, but was rudely dismissed and never got reimbursed. So, this place is not only ridiculously tight, but is also a place for high-seas piracy. Unregulated, no laws to protect you at sea, this place is a nightmare I'll never go back to.
Rude front desk personnel
Recently had a great time on the SunCruz Casino. Went with my family to celebrate a special birthday. The only downfall was Bobby at the front desk who rudely told my 82 yr old dad to "pay attention when I ask you a question"! Really? This is how you treat your customers? Kudos to the rest of the staff for providing a fun experience.
Had A Great Time
We went on the Suncruz Casino boat in Port Richey last week and it was really fun! Our waitress was excellent and was right on top of getting our drinks! I never went without and the best part is that they are FREE while gambling!. The food was great and FREE! As for the slots I came out ahead $20 but My friend won $1800 on a quarter machine! All in all, it was a great time! We will be back!
I was in fla and went out on your curz ship just a couple of weeks ago, and i was playing let it ride and hit four of a kind and the dealer got very upset i won a thousand dollars, and my husband hit a straight at the same deal , and then he started getting nasty with my husband about everything he did , and my husband had told me at lunch about the same dealer doing that to two other guys at the table before that, i would of play more time if edmond wouldn’t got so nasty with us, and even the guy on the floor didn’t like we won, he told edmond that he should shuffle better, most dealer at least said congratulation on the win, so we just left the table with our winnings and didn’t play it back at all, so you can thank your dealer for that.
Had a Bad Time
They said this was Vegas Style Gaming. More like Reno style gaming better yet, this place makes the crustiest casino in Reno look like the high limit area at the Bellagio.
I don't recommend you go play there. Remember these places aren't regulated by any gaming commission so they work by their rules and the slots pay out however percentage they want them to pay out. Most likely you
will lose money so don't expect Vegas odds on anything. 18 foot craps table. Roulette with no Board. Blackjack with 9 decks...you get the picture?
I think the most positive thing was the boat ride to the boat where you can view the gulf. The ride will be quiet on the way back because everyone has lost money. Please just be warned if you decide to experience it for yourself.
If you like craps and have to get your fix go for it. But just know that this place is low rent. A table is a table on craps though. Dealers were rude and the waitresses were worse. Get out of this what you can. Free drinks and practically free ferry charter to the casino gives nice views of the gulf. Outside of that guard your wallet and keep to yourself. This place is low budget and no frills when you arrive.
First time on a casino boat
I visited the Suncruz Casino boat for the first time November 2011 and here is what I thought.
First of all the casino does not offer a hotel and a players club that I know of so my rating for those is n/a. I also did not get a chance to play any table games. This was my first time visiting a casino boat ever so I did not know quite what to expect.
The casino was very easy to find. There was a giant billboard marking the entrance off the main road ( US 19) in Port Richey and parking was not a problem. Once we parked and went into the waiting area we were greeted by a nice lady working behind the desk. At that time we presented to her the $5 free game play coupon we printed off of Sun Cruz website. She in turn asked for a $5 fee to get onto the shuttle boat. She also handed us a raffle ticket ( $50 free slot play drawings every half hour), a $15 dollar slot voucher for $10, a shuttle boarding pass, a voucher for a free meal, and a promotion coupon for a night we could not be there.
We had arrived about 30 minutes early so we had some time to sit around the waiting area. There was free coffee in the waiting area. After we waited a bit it was time to board the shuttle that takes us out to the casino boat parked 15 miles off shore. The shuttle boat had ample seating and there was coffee and soft drinks served as a snack bar on board. It took about an hour for the shuttle to reach the casino out in the Gulf of Mexico.
The shuttle boat was parked quickly and we got our first look at the casino. It was pretty smokey inside but that bothered my girlfriend more than I. The bottom deck where we entered housed a bunch of slot machines, the cashier, and a bar. We went upstairs right away to explore our options. The second deck had a few more slots, a bar, some table games, and was a little less smokey. I would compare each deck to about the size of a tennis court. Maybe a tad bigger.
We were hungry so we went to the bar upstairs and got our voucher out to eat. We could choose from about 10 menu items for free. I ordered a simple turkey sandwich and the girlfriend had a grilled chicken sandwich. The food was free but it was nothing special and came with a tiny bag of chips.
After we ate we wanted to hit the slots. They had a few of my favorites like wheel of fortune, double diamond, red white blue 7's, etc. All the slot machines in the casino were older and the ticket system is not used there. We cashed out in tokens or nickels if you were playing a 5 cent machine. Their slots also do not accept newer bills especially 5's with the red ink on them. Feeding the slots money was not always easy and had to exchange newer bills for old a few times. Most of the machines there were 25 centers and it seemed like most were single pay line with a max bet of 2 or 3 credits. There is one bank of nickel slots (maybe 10 total) and a few dollar slots scattered around (all wheel of fortune machines were $1 =( ). There were also a few $5 slots (maybe 10).
One really nice part of the experience was the free drinks. Unlike the local Hard Rock Casino in Tampa they do serve free drinks to those gambling. The drinks were pretty strong and easy to get. It reminded me of Vegas a little bit.
As far as the machines being any more loose then anywhere else I could not really comment. We were up and down all night until we had to leave. I guess that's to be expected.
At the end of the night after last call and they make you stop gambling it was pretty frustrating. You are 15 miles offshore and you have to wait for the shuttle to come back and get you then take it all the way back. What they ended up doing is driving the casino boat towards Florida to meet the shuttle half way so we wouldn't have to wait as long for it to reach us. That was nice that they do that. The only bad part is once you're no longer in international waters you can't smoke or gamble any more and have to follow Florida law.
After we reached the shuttle they docked it quickly and boarded us. The trip back to port in the shuttle was not bad. One thing they did when we got back was they unload the staff at the port before the customers. There is probably some logic behind this but it was a little frustrating at the time.
All and all I had a decent experience. I am glad that companies like this exist so we can gamble in more places. I thought I was going to like the "boat" part better then I did. The boat rocking back and forth sometimes (not all the time) while I was sitting at a machine got annoying a little bit. I can't truly say I will go back when there is more modern and convenient places to gamble but don't take that as a negative. I also live quite a ways away (2 hr drive) but I am glad I went.
Very Nice Crew........However , Now there is a $5.00 port charge per person.
Port Richey cruise Gambleing ship
Come Gamble on this ship if you want to win money that's what I did. The slots pay off real good. The food and the drinks are good. The view is wonderful and the website gives you all the information you need.
Complaint about woman who answers phone
I called the phone number to get info. for my parents who are older. I asked times of departure, voucher info, length of ride, directions etc.etc. It is their first time going and know nothing about a casino on a ship/boat.
The woman who answered came across annoyed that I asked so many questions. She even put me on hold for 10 minutes. When I called her back I expressed my opinion and she mentioned that she will answer real /direct questions. EXTREMELY RUDE.
I explained that this was totally new to my parents, they wanted details and I was bringing them customers, therefore she should have been more patience and be more welcoming.
I suggest whoever runs this should train the women who answer the phone to have good customer service. Service is everything!!
I actually want to tell my parents not to go because they are NOT nice, however it would NOT be fair to my parents or Sun Cruz due to one employees bad mood. My ratings are not accurate since I've never been on the ship...The phone service is certainly a 1...
Suncruz Casino Boat In Port Richey
We had a wonderful time. The slots pay out sooooo much better the the ones in Tampa. I am on a fixed income and love that I don't have to report my winnings to the IRS. Smoke was not bad at all, they have air cleaners. Plus, free food and drinks. They have won my business. I will be a regular on the Suncruz in Port Richey.
Table was very large with only 1 side open (1 dealer, 1 stickman). There were enough players to warrant both sides of the table to be open, however they chose not to do this. Controlled shooting - not realistic being crammed together at one end. Won't be back anytime soon.
SunCruuz in Port Richey
Went out on the boat yesterday for the first time. It's definatly smaller than the others but we had a great time. They have no sea sickness due to their location. Machines were a little older but they pay out well. I hit a $6000 jackpot on a dollar machine!! I still can't believe it. That would never happen at the indian casino. And no taxes. My husband played craps and lost a little but he didnt mind because he was just happy to play dice. The best part of the trip was the fact that it was free. Free boarding, free drinks and food!!! We enjoyed the shuttle ride out to the big boat. We will definitely go back to Suncruz port richey.
We went with a limit of $100 each, my fiance spend 40 dollars and I was up 60 by the end of the night. So we came out even, had fun and stayed at a hotel within walking distance so we didn't drive. Going again this weekend!
